Funny you should mention that, everyone that gets into my Laguna thinks its a manual - the shifter looks the same as the manual one.

I've looked at his pictures and according to my eyesight he has a set of Vauxhall fan blade alloys in his garage. I wonder if h'ed planned to fit them to the Astra but discovered it was knackered?

For someone who 'carnt see it needing much for an MOT' he has a suspiciously large collection of car parts and tools kicking about.

I've just found a advert for the same car on Gumtree, he wants £2200 for it without an mot, no chance!. http://www.gumtree.com/p/cars-vans-motorbikes/mk1-astra13-expclassic-carin-excellent-condition/1022650049

Just down the street from the Junkman residence - check

Apparently not* the usual rubbish - check

A venture into taxfreeness - check

Preferred gearbox - check

Preferred wheels and trims - check

Preferred colour - uncheck for unbeigeness

However, there is this:

The car has the genuine Scimitar alloy wheels

Bollox it has.

The car was in regular use by my brother...My brother needs his garage for a convertible

Stupid git #1

I have driven it around the yard and must say I would have it myself if I didn't already have a classic car.

Stupid git #2

Seems to run in the family. So the thing I like least about the car is the daft twats I have to deal with if I buy it.

Apparently not* the usual rubbish - check

A venture into taxfreeness - check

Preferred gearbox - MASSIVE uncheck

Preferred wheels and trims - uncheck

Preferred colour - uncheck but I can live with it for sheer groovyness

However:

I have owned this Scimi for 28 years during which time i spent a small fortune to get her to concourse condition in picture1 (1990-91)She was taken off the road in 2002 and had been intended as a project for my son but he is not interrested in her restoration.

Epic education fail, hence

Stupid git.

So many old heaps on eBay with 'bought for 17 year old son/daughter but they're not interested', including this Mini whose floors have remained solid while the roof has great big rust holes in it.

I'd have been over the moon to be presented with the keys to some rotten shitbox when I was 17. I don't understand these kids who aren't into driving. A friend's sister had a Metro VdP for driving lessons she never took, I was super jealous.

I have just formulated some excellent plans for an Autoshite delivery network, day to day parcel/oily engine part transport would be the major income generator of course but with a fleet of beige DAFs with reinforced towbars on the back, just think how much money you could make A-framing cars around the country with all that perkins power.  Granted, this one doesn't work, small hole in the plan there but otherwise it's pretty flawless.

I saw that too, but there will be a rectangular hole puking wires if I own it, like it's supposed to be.

Which one is the OD button?

If the car has been converted to auto, that would be something I would do anyway if it still was OD, so this saves me a lot of work.

Are you sure? As far as I can see there is zero aluminium content in those wheels. However, if there is, I bet they are very sought after (and priced accordingly, at least until the moment I try to sell them), so a swap for proper wheels might be fairly cost neutral?

the dunlop wheels are worth about a tenner each - a bit more to MGBv8 owners

the O/D switch is next to the speedo (as if your right hand (on the steering wheel) was on 2 on a clock)

converting to auto certainly brings the price down.

PM me if you need a tasty essex for your (potential) purchase

It's not my fault that the stupid gits took over.

I'm a strict opponent of social darwinism, but my position is challenged every day.

So I get more for them if I weigh them in?

You mean that stalk to the right of the rev counter?

So this would  work in my favour two fold? Should I have become lucky all of a sudden?

I'd certainly hope the one that's in the car will give me faithful service for the few years I have left in this life. However, I will tell my friend in Germany. He has a bit of a heavy right foot and they are not patronised with speed limits for the retarded over there.
