May I kindly ask Skizzer and Breadvan what the fuck you are waiting for?

That's the same bloke I've been trying to buy a Gamma Coupe from since last summer, and he keeps changing his mind and dropping out.

Also my storage is now full of 'your' Granada.

Edit: Plus it looks quite scabby. Probably still will though.

Had a proper phone chat with the seller. Sounds like a decent chap actually. Negotiations have commenced.

Memo to self: need to up my meds, it's happening again.

Its actually a half-decent colour:

But he obviously decided (unwisely) that he didnt look enough of a barry fuckwit like that, so he's shelled out on a purple wrap

front bumper loose

No problem, some standard-issue baryboy woodscrews will no doubt sort that

1300cc - uncheck . 1198cc

3 doors- uncheck . 2 door coupe

Can't argue with not being Italian though, as Meatloaf almost sang; One out of three, ain't bad.

Wikipedia has LIED to me, as it claims that a 1988 136 would have a 1.3 engine.  Still, 1.2 is MOAR BETTERER, because OMGMPG.  Two door is MOAREST BETTEREST, because fewer leaky and broken openy bits.  Not being Italian is still a bit rubbish, but, hey.

Czechoslovakia used to be near Italy.

Not where I'm from.

Not being Italian is still an advantage, but, hey.

Wikipedia was telling the truth, this particular car has had a smaller engine fitted, due to OMGHGF.

Even at weekends, always read the small print!

One of those great motoring disappointments, the Africar project. I still think that the idea, and the design, has a lot going for it and have long had half an eye open for one coming up for sale.

Seller is delusional to ask for £249,000+ however, so dream it stays for me.

Sambars are the shizzle, although that is a bit speshul with the faux dub nonsense.

 proven historical importance

Bollocks; all he demonstrated was that people who know nothing about Africa or making cars shouldn't visit the former or attempt the latter. An expensive exercise in ego massage. Gordon Murray's recent attempt at the same thing at least has the merit of using cheap off-the-shelf automotive components and steelwork readily fabricated with simple machinery, although I think the effort will fail for exactly the same reasons as Africar; there's a ready supply of used cars and trucks from the 1st world at less than half the price of any new CKD murraymobile.

I read the original Africar book and, as stated above, mass availability of cheap, repairable chod has overtaken the need for anything like this. It's not a well known enough story for one of these to ever be worth £250k

It's not a bad read, I've got a copy of it somewhere.

Amazing how every attempt of the white man to sell Africans cars he especially designed for them spectacularly failed.

Instead they just hoovered up every 404, 504 and W123 they could get their hands on.

A lesson clearly not learned.

Probably 'coursed' by British Leyland.

Excempt.  If he had said concourse as well, I would have stopped reading.   Nice scooter.

I hope someone saves the Minx though I've read that the bodywork is awkward to repair.  We (dad) had one in 1960 - OYH420 - and one day we urged him to see how fast it would go on the way to Oxford.  It sounded terrible as it reached its maximum of about 70mph, sidevalve engine thrashing and knocking mercilessly. We were impressed.  His previous car, a 1933 Austin 7, struggled to exceed 35mph.

That's Tony Howarth's. You're buying it from its creator, who moved to France a couple of decades back.
