Escort-spec XJ.  Only needs beige and manual to be perfect.

In 1990 if I'd been offered that as a courtesy car when dropping off a Jag, I'd have stamped my feet and whined like a bitch, until they found me a demonstrator or something.

Now I can't think of any XJ40 I'd rather have. Ok,so I might not be quite the obnoxious gobshite I was when I was 26 driving company Jags, but it's probably more the simple honesty of this one and the fact I don't want a Jag for driving everywhere at 140, rather for relaxed trundles in the countryside.( Also the tweed flat rear bench is much better for shagging on than the separate Daimler leather seats.)

This looks quite nice although I'd rather it had the original LX grills and bumpers rather than the Ghia stuff.. I don't think MK2 Granada's seem to have picked up quite as much scene tax insanity for other similiar aged Fords.

This is right at the end of Mark 2 production. How much of this is Barry'ed and how much was Uncle Henry upgrading the LX at the end of production? If it was mine the hundreds of Ghia badges would come off. I think I could live with the wheels as they are Ford's and not some pointlessly stupid tat "off the internet innit".

I have to confess to being one of these cancelling bastards with this car. It's local to me and it popped up on Ebay a couple of years ago. I bid, won then couldn't take it. To be fair to his description of only using it occasionally I'm sure it didn't have that much less mileage at the time. I could be wrong but I'm sure the arches have been gone over since then as they were quite rusty before.

Buggered fuel supply issue shouldn't be that hard for Mr AA to fix at the roadside  :-D

Nice and early, one of his pics has loads of wanky plastic chrome shite on the car.

If you read the listing, your eyes will go big, square and red. I know mine did. All you need to know is this:

DONT MESSAGE WHAT IS THE MILEAGE AS IT DOES NOT MATTER

Be the second to do it.
(I just did.)

Wouldn't it be useful if there was a website provided by say, the government, that could help identify the mileage and MOT history of a car using only it's registration plate?

OH YEAH! check-mot.service.gov.uk!

Test date: 16 may 2016

Odometer reading: 148,218 miles

So the mileage is irrelevant because the seller thinks it's intergalactic then? If it had one or two owners and FSH rather than it being flipped by a dealer who's taken it in part exchange and can't be bothered cleaning the interior I would be more inclined to agree that the mileage was less relevant.
