That Metro pick-up is thunderously shit, it really is something else!!!! Gr9 find

I didn't know the Polo engine found its way into Wartburgs too.

It didn't, it's a Golf engine in those (more or less). That's being sold by a mate if anyone's interested - I'd have it myself if it had two fewer strokes, but I don't see the appeal of these later ones really

Has all the usual issues you'd expect from a car this old that's been though several owners

getting in can be a pain due to the door popper and lack of a handle! <- nothing to do with me!

"some idiot removed the door handles and replaced them with something substantially less usable" probably is one of the 'usual issues' if you're into Beetles.

This is a pet hate of mine:

Agreed but it's intriguing. A quick Google search finds bugger all. Would really like to see some images of a finished Chevron, if anyone in the 80's actually bothered to build one!

As far as I know everything in that auction is everything there ever was. The yellow one was complete and was the factory demonstrator but no others were sold. It's interesting, and well worth saving, so hopefully somebody will take it all on

Fantastic.

This looks like badge engineering as I thought that was a Mazda AZ-1 at first:

Either or I guess. I'm sure VW weren't making two 1.3's at the same time and I think the 1.3 would have been more popular in the Polo.

Yeah, I'm sure it was well up to ferrying the local Weight Watchers group around the Zoo on their annual outing.

Come on Beryl, room for one more on top!

Badge engineering indeed. AZ1s are higher profile 'cause they're in Gran Turismo, innit.

The Autozam [Mazda] AZ-1 was sold as a Suzuki Cara as well :)

We need to club together, roffle style, buy it, then call it the Chevron Autoshite Special', or something like that, it's got all the credentials!

A shade over £2300 BIN seems cheap for one of these, even if it'd need a few bucks spending to get re-registered. Look at those trimz!

Those little Japanese are lovely, why didn't they sell them over here, I love the translated adverts, but must register my disappointment that the tiny Daihatsu Mira does not come equipped with a reversing camera.
