Look at this!

The actual TopGear test car.

So, The Stig setting a lap time , then big Jezza doing power slides and smoking the tyres ?

No, actually Danny Goffey's dad balancing a glass of water on the engine and comparing the wood* to anXJ40, a W126 and an e32.

Don't think is telly history makes it worth 3 times the price of a normal LS400 though.

those are gorgeous but there is no way that i think that it is worth £2k.

it is a nice colour too, ftw!

with such delights as this for sale in NZ the though of getting the fuck out of this place and not coming back seem even more promising...7

thing is i would be wanting to do something completely different to what i'm doing here (cos i hate it) and out in the wilds on north island, cos i'm an antisocial bugger who increasingly hates been around other people.

its nice to have a dream i suppose.

Do it then!

I'd overcome my auto box adversity just because it's so straight but in reality, it's waaaay too good for me. Plus the guy wants over £3k from memory, so it's academic, anyway.

My mate's dad had an L reg 99 which is the first one I remember seeing....Its bloody gorgeous that, to about the same degree as the seller appears to be a dick. I would re-think my position on capital punishment if he had monged it up as intended. Worth every penny just for that dealer sticker!

I had a properly old J reg one with chrome bumpers. Have only seen one other chrome bumper 99 since.

Mid 60s (1966?), so not particularly early by normal standards.  On the usual 7-year model cycle that would be one of the last, but as it's a Saab the 99 battled on for another 10 years (not counting the 900 spin-off).

SaaB 99 announced 1967 and on sale in the UK a bit later, I remember them on an H plate, mine was on an L plate. Lots to like.

We are in our 50s but are VW enthusiasts

Blimey, I thought that was some 18 year old hipster wannabe following the scene manual step by step. What a clichéd pile of yawn.

cooo, I didn't realise that the 99 was that old, I had always thought it must be from the early to mid 1970's.

in typical scab form it was ahead of the completion!

Reg Morris, the Saab dealer in Westwoodside. My Dad bought a J reg 9000 saloon from there in 1997. A proper small dealership you'd expect in a village. I'm told by a colleague who's local that they're still trading, although not in new Saabs obviously.... :)

There's no point in trying to hide we can all see what you've done to it.

Is it just me, but I thought it was illegal to not have wheel arches of some description. There seem to be more and more of these abortions appearing now. All with modern running gear and a pre '60 id so they get away with the mot. I suspect VOSA will start clamping down on them sooner or later. Mods are fine as long as it is period using parts available at the time.
