I know it's common to see P6s as Police cars in period dramas, but did any forces actually use 2000s in the 60's?

I remember seeing Jam Sandwich 3500S motorway cars and of course the blue V8 patrol cars and Royal protection cars used by the Met.

But I can't imagine many 2000s getting used when Zephyrs and Jags were cheaper and faster, is it a case of TV companies being lazy because there's so many P6s around?
