i had a ghia focus new as a company hack, on a 55 plate

i really liked it though i did drive the wheels off of it in 3 years and 145k.

it was thrashed from day one, we called it the bucket, never washed, you get the picture.

had a new engine after the OMGHGF let go after polar ford forgot to put some water in it after a service, and a new steering rack, alternator, and the gear selectors fell to bits....

it was a great car though, very comfortable and much better  put together than the focus that followed it

I here that generation of focus is a really good car as long as you stay away from the diesels.

Mrs C's car goes back in a few months. She's not working now and does about 3000 miles a year so can't stomach another finance deal. My plan was to keep my eyes open for a 55-56 plate 1.6 petrol Focus a round about the 1500 quid mark. However I just spotted this for

1700 quid. It's a diesel and done 170k. It's more interesting than a Focus but if it starts being a dick she'll get the scunner.

It looks pretty well looked after. I had one but it was brand new at the time and I had the warm blanket of the manufacturer warranty.

Disaster?

Hold out for a Lusso or Veloce. Turismo is pov model. I would have thought you'd get a lower mileage one for that money too. Also if it's only going to do low miles, you'd probably be better off with a petrol.

Otherwise, HYPER FIT.

i had a string of focuseseses.

the first 2 where mark 1's, and both were brillliant.

then i got the bucket, early mark 2 on i think a 55, and that was even better.

the last one was the mark 2 facelift, on a 09 plate and that was shit. utter, utter shit.

ford had been cost cutting and the whole car especially the interior was spectacularly cheap and low rent. the car didnt drive anywhere as well either. it was a relief when it got bashed and someone set fire to it when it was waiting to be repaired.

all 4 were petrol, 1600 zetatics or something like that. dunno about the wheezelly deiselly ones.

My colleague is just about to replace his 54 reg focus 1.6 petrol at 111'000 miles. Apart from a water pump very early on and a couple of springs and a very recent wiper relay courtesy of this forum it's been boringly reliable. He's pxing it for a 64 reg focus 1 litre thing with 13,000 miles next week.

Other than that though ? I'm probably better just getting a focus eh?

It's Bosch kit on my 156 diesel and it's never given a blink in 60k with me

Everything works, all windows, all dash items, even the e/m and it's been Mondeo money to run as a daily for 5 good years now.  Now at 159k and 2003 plate.  It is the earlier 8v JTD though, the 159s were all JTDm.  Look for rust underneath as I've seen a few up on the ramp and they do vary
