I think one of these will be joining the SX fleet at some point in 2015. The early rubber bumper cars look the best in my opinion but a 70's BL product with a V12 might be a step to far for my sanity, and bank balance. I am considering a 3.6 manual.

Are they as ruinous as I imagine?

I can't see how they can be that ruinous. I reckon a 3.6 manual has to be the one to go for, at least you can actually drive it about, unlike a V12 which i'm sure is so thirsty that its just not credible in 2014.

A 3.6 is a sensible alternative, I had a rubber bumper V12 and it wasn't cheap to run.  In fact it cost more per month than the rent on my flat.

Watch for rust, and clonking around the rear suspension.

I love the idea that we happily spend more on cars than our accommodation. My trans am was the same.

Not only are they affordable to run with 25mpg a realistic proposition they're pretty much as fast as a V12. Although mine did blow a brazed pipe out of the waterpump when I tried racing a 944 Turbo . Although I feared it was much more terminal when I saw a massive white cloud appear in the mirror at 140, a real pit of the stomach churner for a few seconds till I smelt the antifreeze.

STREWTH!!!! Look at this hottie for only 500€!!!!

Now THAT is a 305 worth getting excited about. Not half as practical as a van but I reckon it'd be much more fun to drive and therefore usable. Plus it's a bloody gorgeous shade of brown with solid looking A pillars.

That's got successful date weekend written all over it.

Give him a break.... he's a footballer!!!! I reckon thats a pretty cool vehicle to turn up for training at Crystal palace or whetever amongst all the Bentleys and Range Rovers. "Yeah lads, if you need owt taking to the tip just whatsapp me"

Not all footballer's are twats David James had an Astra van. Which is now for sale as he has gone bust.

It has got a 2.5 V6 as well

See this is more like where footballer/celebrity wages ought to be. Yeah a bit more than your average joe, but only enough that they have stuff that normal* people buy but done up just a little bit nicer*.

How many magic beans did he buy to fuck up that badly that he's gone bust?
