Buy a good one and I doubt you'd lose your money. I seem to recall they were quite pricey when new as well?

 

*EDIT* Apparently they started out at about £16k in 1990 which according to the BofE inflation calculator is just over £30k now! All of a sudden a brand new Golf GTi looks like a bit of a bargain.
