Converted to 2.5Di Transit engine, 5 speed manual. Unfortunately very underpowered for this vehicle. Fine on little local jaunts, but make sure you have the number for The Samaritans with you if you take it on a long journey. Last week I drove it 60 miles, fantastically economical, but just as well there was no sharp objects or rope to hand when I got home.

That Mercury Cougar is quite possibly the nastiest bit of Yank shite I've ever seen.  It's a half-baked, less desirably badge-engineered version of a rubbish car which was an insult to the famous name it carried.  It's ugly, mis-proportioned, what's left of the paint is a horrible colour, the wheels are hideous, it's the size of a van but only has two doors and a saloon boot and probably costs a fortune in fuel and tax.

 

I like it.

Hmph, I rather like the 1990s Mercury Cougar.  Weather-resistant paint seems not to have been a strong point, though, as also demonstrated on this one I papped in Savannah GA last year:
