Apparently, its named after a Roman Virgin - not that there's many unmolested ones left (Lancias, that is not Roman Virgins)

I thought they were named after the fountain because when you drive off down the road all the water rushes out the rust holes underneath.

I hope it's ok to post this in here. I know that some people in here love old British cars.

For sale 1980 Austin maxi 2 HLS. Twin carb model.

Due to my ill health. I've got a problem with my sternum which has caused me to sell my project car.

I baught it because it's almost identical to my 1st car

495 Ono

Unwelded car. She's going to need repairs to the front wings around the head lights, patch on the rear of each sill. There is a small patch needed under the drivers side in the corner under the back seat

She has been stored inside a dry garage for years. Will need suspension pumping up. New braking system. The master cylinder has pressure.

Engine runs. Needs an inlet gasket, which is supplied with the car and one SU is sticking

Collection from Brickendon Hertford

I salute whoever had the foresight to order a Maxi in Autoshite livery, decades before Autoshite existed.

How nice is this? Seller mentions rot but these don't usually go too badly.....

Its what the seller DOESN'T say that attracts me.

No Barn-find knob-wash, no bollocks about "valuable number plate" and no TLDR tosh.

Would. Very much but its getting some healthy interest already.....

that mark 1 consul is very nice, very nice indeed.

as much as i prefer the mark 2 with the tail fins and the chrome, that mark 1 is lovely. and its going to sell for big money.

i hope whoever gets it does put it back on the road, but doesn't either restore the hell out of it, or even worse, hot-rod/pineapple/ruin it.

i do wonder sometimes when driving through towns or a large, older estate whether there is anything interesting hidden in the garages of these houses or not. in some cases there must be,

its great innit, the Daimler would need to be driven with a pork pie hat and a sheepskin coat, for the full "minder" look

Aye that spec could be a tough sell to the insurance company

Honestly they couldn't give a shit from my experience. Every time I ring up Adrian flux to tell them I have much a much larger engine in my car they just charge about £50 extra, or base the premium on the car that the engine came out of whichever is higher. They don't care what the DVLA think it is, nor have they ever asked if I've uprated the brakes or anything to suit the engine, infact I've never once bothered to tell the DVLA of an engine swap because it's not worth the aggravation.

Same here Cobblers - Phoned up Flux to tell them my newly bought Cortina had a 2.9 Scorpio engine in it, indeed it went up by about 50 quid or so

I made the mistake of telling endsleigh I'd changed the engine in my 2cv in 1994. Wanted receipts and an engineer's report- brand new 2cv engine like for like but they weren't happy.

they'll take your money all day long but try and get them to pay out when it all goes wrong.
