Hey, Egg, that's fine. eBay, Gumtree, Autotrader, wherever you like. Cheers.

Look at this. Very underated due to being ugly and having wrong badge. Badge snobbery started here and you see the result now.....no more Austins and everybody driving shit Audis on 10 year finance deals.

I absolutely HEART these. To be fair, I think they have a pretty decent following, they're really rare now and I've seen them for sale at pretty big money.

the Austin 3 litre was a disaster, commercially when new.

over 5 years the run was i think 9950 cars.

the 3 litre class was dying, and those who wanted a big motor like that wanted Jaguar, Rover, MB and the like on the front, and not Austin or Vanden Plas on the badge.

a shame as i like the 3 litre, even if you did have to start the car before loading up the boot, else it would sink onto its back bump stops, the self levelling suspension wasn't that clever....

that lotus has had 15 owners, ok that is since 1980 but even so, 15 owners.....

there must be quicker ways to go bust.

but i'm having a hard time thinking of one

Historic rallying, in a Rover 216?  Huh?

You've lost me completely.  Three gold medals?  For fourth place?  In an SD3?  With a sunroof?

I know the seller of this,  he rallied a 1.5 Cherry then a 1.6 Sunny before being talked into a Mini.  It was rustier than expected so he did this up to get something to race.  Like the Nissans he had to rivet a plate over the sunroof to satisfy the scrutineers.  I got to see it because he was struggling to find some compitition pads to fit so borrowed a set of Cherry pads from me as he knew he would be able to get green stuff pads in that size.

I think there are a few categories in the race so he may well have won his own section but come forth overall.

He's a really sound bloke who has helped me out a few times with the Cherry.

If I were MAD and decided to restore either, I'd record the process, and keep receipts for all major expenditure. Maybe VOSA could have a CAT U.....

Unrestorable without full documentation.

I can remember a Polonez our resident FSO boys are restoring that would probably fail your restorability test.

I didn't know about these, and now there is something Oz I fancy even more than Kylie in an E-series P76........

Chrysler Centura, ie a 4 litre straight-six-hemi Simca 1609 / Chrysler 180 with Oz-only grille.

There are several for sale on upside-down gumtree, this one has the best pictures, £2,689.49:

And yes Virginia, the 265 hemi (4.3 litres) will fit straight in.

Fair do's then, all credit to the guy for his non-obvious choices of weapon.  I'm surprised (and pleased, obv) that the historic rally people let him enter, never mind win.

Maybe he should be on here.

Remember Mr Carcraft Clio man? I hope he doesn't see this, or the internet will explode...

Read the price slowly:

£1,695.00

One thousand, six hundred and ninety five quid for a pissing 2003 Punto with 82,000 miles on the clock. Happy days though, finance is 'only' £15 per week with no deposit. So you only* have 113 weeks to regret buying it.

*For more LOLZ have a look at the other stuff they're trying to sell. The automatic Suzuki Liana is astoundingly priced and not ina  good way.
