My guess would be to fit bigger engines, or maybe the Ibiza was more spacious.

looking back, you could get an Ibiza 6K with a 2.0L petrol, a 1.8 20V Turbo, and the 1.9 TDI engines.

Those were never offered in the 6N Polo.

The Ibiza was a slightly larger car, despite sitting on the same platform and being from the same class

Be like me with a Puma. This one is low miles which could justify the arseache of sorting the rear arches (and probably sills and front wings too). £1500 isn't outrageous for a nice one these days, it's in A Cock's Green.

Condition of rear arches is difficult to assess from the ad.
