Washer Tricks.... ?

My Carina II has the 'washer squirt' on the stalk end, pulling the stalk swipes the blades dry [however* after 1.5 swipes the washers will squirt without touching the stalk button]

.... took some working out ....

Further evidence of prior Giffer ownership...urine sample reminders under the seat.

Better the reminder than the actual stuff though!

BTW this will be entering a rofflez shortly.

Which one, the urine sample or the car?

So this is the situation.

I won hoolis roffle and only need one giant silver barge in my life so something has to give, especially as I’ve agreed to relieve pbk of the Galaxy...

Despite the Mondeo being my preference for keeping with it’s lovely V6, versus the boosty fun of a SAAB, but the wife has an aversion to driving around in a car with the external appearance of Onslo’s Cortina so the roffle is for the Giffer.

I paid £500 cold hard for it and have done little except the following.

- Broken the radio but sourcing a replacement oem from eBay

- done a 1000 miles at an average 30.1 mpg (motorways and quiet country lanes)

- Bought but not fitted a pair of front wheel bearings as the drivers side makes noise

(Obviously not enough noise for me to actually sort it yet)

- Added a brand new fitted boot mat...mmm rubber

- tinted the only by of faded leather interior so it all looks good.

So what is it?

Mondeo Ghiz X

2.5 V6 Pez

Mot July 2019

Mileage - Just under 129,000

Chain driven

Heated seats

Heated (drivers side at least) windscreen

Rear parking sensors

Leather interior

Cruise control (doesn’t work)

Badermatic 5 speed (can be a bit ponderous but fine in normal use)

Outside - giffered but rust free (all knocks touched in seamlessly* by previous owner)

Full service history from main dealer (somebody spent a lot on this thing)

Still on dealer plates despite frontal and rear Giffer driving.

Working electric tilt/slideage sunroof

Auto dimming rear view mirror

ULEZ exempt!

£450 will take it away or roffling at £8 a ticket or 2 for £15.

Also to add, I can work up near Durham or down south near Staines, etc and drive up/train back if that helps people’s logistics.

I was about to say that if this was a manual it'd be a great car, but then I remembered how horrible the clutch and shift was on these when they were new / nearly new, you're probably better off with it being an auto.

No play from me, sorry, I already have a thirsty FWD auto with ford parts on it's way to Durham for me.

Posted

Really? I thought the shift was fairly slick on the ones I drove, the six speed could be a little notch from stone cold though.

Yeah, it's the 6er I'm remembering, mostly ST220s.

To be fair, I only ever really drove them cold (as a valeter)

Evening roffle bumps.

A fuse has clearly blown with the radio removal attempts with the odd side effect of delayed activation of the dash and dials waking up by about 15 seconds post starting the car. Google suggests F69 fuse will fix it so no panic for purchasers - I will be fixing this :)

Also, navigating mini roundabout confirmed little known fact.

Mondeo door pockets designed to catch errant pizza boxes and prevent knuckle grazing seat side fumbles.

Those seats look like a nice place for your erse

I can confirm they are indeed delightfully squidgy places to park a posterior.

Reminds me, drivers seat motor won’t go down, makes appropriate noises but is obviously stuck.

It moves in all others directions on the button.

That's a sturdy looking cupholder

And all the better for it. Unlike this robot claw arrangement, the cup holder on the 9-5 opens with the grace of a leaping gazelle but the cup lols around in there as you dive along, like a drunk trying to make it home from the pub on foot.

This has been winking at me for some time.

Unfortunately, two completely unexpected bills totalling £850 (as if I wasn't skint already ffs) this weekend have made me put my sensible head on for the minute, and I shall thus continue to try and ignore this roffle...
