Sunburst yellow Mercedes SLK 230K

There's an old boy near me with a classic metal script AA badge somehow stuck on the front of a Nissan leaf. I've only seen it in passing but I'd be unsurprised if it were mounted with self tappers through the bonnet.

Off work with that sickness bug today. NHS.com advised lots of fluids and maybe fresh air. I felt a bit better by mid day so thought I'd chance some fresh air.

There's nothing like a decent blast in the open air to cure what ails you.

I checked and there IS a button to deactivate the passenger air bag. Should be fine for his seat, fingers crossed.

While I was pissfarting about I also mounted up a badge. I know a lot of people hate these but I like the look of them even when they're out of place. Always remind me of my childhood.

No idea why the forum decides to mount some pics upside down.

H8rs gonna h8.

Next on the list is service and rear tyres.

I like the badge. I am going to get one for the 75. Might as well pop one on.

I'd just like to keep it that way so will treat the seals twice a year.

Wait, what. Could this be a keeper?

Looks braw, I feel a wee topless MR2 run coming tomorrow, spurred on by your vid.

I would take quite a few roffle tickets for this as I really miss my silver one that I roffled last year .

Keep this one, fella. The PO has clearly sorted all the important bits, and you’re that enamoured that you’re polishing the rubbers. I still can’t believe that it has Nile-esque powers of healing; you could make some bucks offering ‘topless healing runs’.

It’s a bonny looking car. The SLK has aged really well.

And you don't fit in it, it's literally perfect.

Why do you still have the avensis?

Why do you still have the avensis?

Its practical and you can fit large items into it. And its economically superior. Might move it on eventually but I think it'd be hard to part with because it's just so CAR.

Yeah it does look canny from most angles. Seems bizzare to me that this car is now 20 years old and qualifies for 'classic' insurance. Seems like a very very modern car to me. Which I suppose it is, comparatively.

Hope a *reasonably priced icecream was procured here ;)

Nah. I only really stopped to spew in a bin.

I remember when these came out and I had a few hours in Paris and while I was waiting for a train an SLK was parked up.

People were gathering around the motor and taking pictures of it as it was that desirable and the only other car I’ve seen that happen to was the smart roadster and the BMW mini on launch.

The rest of a self assembly service kit scoured from the bottom of the eBay barrel.

Car seems to smell far less of petrol recently but a hunt for perished pipes is also on the cards.

While the sun was out I had a go at YELLOWENING a chip in the wing.

Ruined:

Car makes a canny dailly really. I get the roof down where possible and get me foot down as often as possible. It's also returning high thirties mpg round the doors and over 40 on a run.

Are we at the numbers stage yet?

11 and 25, pls M8

Hmmm, supercharged 4 pot daily that does 40mpgs, sounds gr9.

I take it you get the roof down often to stop hitting your head on it.

Pretty much! It's far more comfortable and spacious when you've got the entire sky as heedroom.

Tyres.... Fitted Avon ZZ5 to mine and they suit it very well indeed, top trumps wet & dry handling and not too expensive at around £60 a corner fitted from local ATS. Enjoy the top banana. Cashback also available from ATS via Quidco.

Yup, that's what's on the corners ATM. Needs new rears though. Best get saving.

What is it about Avons and old Mercs?  I threw a set of ZZ5s at the 300E I had from Dollywobbler several moons ago; it was transformed.

News from the ramp is that "it's megasolid underneath like."

The pertol smell was diagnosed as leaky filter. Now replaced. Couldn't find any perished pipes or leaks.

L1 noticed the reversing light going french at Eddyfest18. I hoped and presumed it would be a bulb but the culprit seems to very likely be the switch at the shifter. Tinternets say PIG OFF A JOB M8 *sadfaceemoticon*. Something else for the TO DO list.

Also been looking at supercharger pulley upgrades but the well received ones seem prohibitively expensive. Apparently you can get a bolt on "overpulley" for the crank pulley, which definitely ADDS 40HP M8.

I can't find any for sale though.

Drive and enjoys.

In the NOT COOL corner at the Lakes meet.
