Oh and if anyone wants to venture to the ASMM(North) then it's Plum Pudding races at Mallory as usual.

I am pretty easy going with whatever too. I might even just take the steam train up and back (though I may just turn up in the Frontera anyway)

The NYD meet up in Bridgnorth a couple of years back was really nice too. Loved that.

I’ll have a look at heritage railway running days later and pick one. Most likely the SVR at Bridgnorth as we can mooch into the town as well. They have a cliff railway there, you know.

Yeah, lets do the Bridgnorth Yuletide bash again. Now let’s pick a day.

Let's pick a day for the New Year's Day thing?

Well in my defence it hasn’t always been on New Year’s Day even though it’s been called that.

And rhubarb and ginger gin is very moreish.

Sounds like a good plan!

So we thinking NYD itself or another date around NYD?

Posted

1st or nowt for me, as I'm off on two 2CV road runs at the weekend after (Scottish borders and North Yorkshire).

Bridgnorth on the 1st it is then!

Meet up at the station at morning o’clock? I believe it has a new car park.

Are we doing the riding trains thing? Looks a decent day out to me.

Just to check, it is this place right?

Their website is lovely, but refuses to tell you the address so I've googled & assumed it's correct.

Park in high town and wander over the bridge for the skinflints amongst us.

The overflow parking is the same side as the station, and free... (assuming it's still open now they've reopened the main car park).

Excellent. I'm still deciding whether to turn up in the Frontera of doom or do a train ride to Bridgenorth from home which id more direct than driving.

Posted

I'll consider coming down if I have a working car, but with the Civic currently mid-head strip and the Volvo with PCV issues and a farily severe coolant leak, I'll have to see what's what.

Posted

As I am only half an hour away it would be rude not to be there.

What time's kick off ?

Posted

Mo, when do you want to meet up? I’d suggest around 10-11 but can be as variable as you want. It is new year after all.

Posted

Whenever. I'm easy I might be my usual lazy self and turn up at 11.30 or something. But yeah, between 10 and 11 sounds great.

Well, there you go folks. New Year’s Day at the Severn Valley Railway, Bridgnorth station is the meet. From around 10:30-11:00 ish. Stand around looking at steam trains, talk bollocks with other like minded folks or just hang around then pop into town for a game pie, all are welcome!

One year I'm going to think about this beforehand and make sure I'm back from my visit up north in good time.

Which will probably be the year it snows like fuck and we don't do it.
