EDIT: Date for visit 3rd Nov, Starlight Spectacular https://www.tramway.co.uk/whatson/starlight-spectacular-2/

Seeing how popular the Trams thread is http://autoshite.com/topic/33005-trams/ lets see if we can get a group together for a visit to Crich Tramway Village in Derbyshire https://www.tramway.co.uk/

It's normally £17 to get in, but if we can manage a group of 10 it comes down to £10.50 & it appears pre-booked car clubs get in free with pre-1986 cars, depends if they class chod as classic I guess but we can ask.

It closes for the year on 4th Nov so we need to do it in the six weeks or so, I've no idea on dates except I can't do 5th-7th Oct.

Who's in?

1. Hooli - YES
2. binhoker668 (maybe)
3. MarvinsMom (maybe)
4. bub2006 (pre 1986, I can't wait to hear their reaction to Roland) - YES
5. Ghosty - YES
6. catsinthewelder (tempted)
7. Squire_Dawson (probably)
8. dean36014 - YES
9. AlabamaShrimp
10. Wack - YES
11. petermcpete (tempted)
12. petermcpete's friend (tempted)
13. 3VOM (probably)

Posted

Well they've got plenty of leccy to jumpstart it.

They wouldn't let me in last year with my '80 Vauxhall Royale, got banished to the public car park by the jobsworth 'duty inspector' as he didn't deem it a classic...

Right so far we have  -

1. Hooli

2. binhoker668 (maybe)

3. MarvinsMom (maybe)

4. bub2006 (pre 1986, I can't wait to hear their reaction to Roland)

Please copy the list & add yourselves if you're interested, it'll make it much easier to keep track.

The website does say ring & book the cars in advance, guess they know what they want in there.

What difference would it make? It wasn't like they had 300 pre 60s cars queuing to get in on the day I went; there were no other classics whatsoever and it would have provided an added interest for the paying visitors, plus I would have loved to get some pictures of my car on the cobbles. As it was, his attitude was awful (though the lady on the gate was most sympathetic) and it really put me off going again.

No idea. I've never been, just commenting on what they say on the website. Maybe he'd get issued with a list of expected cars?

Definitely in, not been to Crich for years.

1. Hooli

2. binhoker668 (maybe)

3. MarvinsMom (maybe)

4. bub2006 (pre 1986, I can't wait to hear their reaction to Roland)

5. Ghosty

If anyone has a particular date they'd like please shout up, I've got one weekend I can't do but I'm not bothered apart from that.

I'm really tempted but its a fair trek from here.  Romanian plates onto the Dacia to claim it's an 85 model (and get kicked out by a Hubnut fan on the staff).

I haven't driven a bus over that bridge, honest... (yes a 7ft 6 LHS will fit, just LOL)

If I can make it once dates are finalised, yes. Should be a good day out.

I would like to bring the Acadiane, and meet some of you guys. Please put me down to attend, provided it’s not on the week end of 20/21 October.

Thank you

What if I doctor the M on the 205 into an A?

I've always fancied going but the chances of me having a weekend off are so close to zero right now it can basically be considered a no. Sadface.

If we can get to 10 people to get the reduced rate it'd be great, or do people want to go ahead planning something & see what happens?

OK put me as a probable. I assume the pre 1986 car thing is so you can get in free and drive in front of the shops?

Looks good , depending on the date I'd like to come , nothing pre 86 to drive so I'll have to come in something Yellow

Yup the pre-1986 thing gets you entry for free if they let the car in, it doesn't appear everything is accepted though. When we have a list of cars I'll ring them in advance to check.

Any preferences on dates people? or shall I pick one & see who can make it?
