Tetleysmooth Posted September 7, 2018 Author Posted September 7, 2018 How much does Karl Noob charge?
Tetleysmooth Posted September 7, 2018 Author Posted September 7, 2018 Well I'll be buggered.Mrs Tet very very rarely expresses an opinion on cars, but she's asked me not to sell this, because she actually likes it.She hasn't done this since our Vauxhall Senator days. Senators are her all time favourite car, and probably the only car she'd change her Pajero for. So, for the sake of my physical well being, this Saab is no longer for sale - for now. Saabnut, DVee8, SiC and 1 other 4
Mally Posted September 7, 2018 Posted September 7, 2018 Might be worth changing the title to reflect this.
gadgetgricey Posted September 7, 2018 Posted September 7, 2018 So, for the sake of my physical well being, this Saab is no longer for sale - for now. Great News..... Now get yourself over to Karl, as sure the extra bhp will take some of the issue away from having to use the third pedal
SiC Posted September 7, 2018 Posted September 7, 2018 Well I'll be buggered. Mrs Tet very very rarely expresses an opinion on cars, but she's asked me not to sell this, because she actually likes it. So, for the sake of my physical well being, this Saab is no longer for sale - for now. Uh-oh! You know what that means? She's fallen into the Saab trap! This is where she ends up starting to post in here too: http://autoshite.com/topic/32613-saab-what-is-it-about-them-that-just-keeps-you-fixing-them/ Bobthebeard 1
Alanism Posted September 7, 2018 Posted September 7, 2018 Karl is the man for Saab fiddling. My last couple of Aeros were worked on by him. Makes a huge difference for not much money. I have fiddled with my own ecu maps for Saabs as its relatively easy but cannot get as smooth as Karl's. If you have a reliable Saab keep it. Most are troublesome and a reliable one is a great thing to own!
Tetleysmooth Posted September 24, 2018 Author Posted September 24, 2018 I've changed my mind again.Definitely want an auto again. Mrs Tet agrees this time, so it's definitely going to go.I'd really like a 9-5 auto estate, or maybe another Volvo auto estate. I'd like the car that Hooli is selling, but must admit the gearbox/oil leak/cooling issues are putting me off a bit. Bloody cheap though. As I try to be 100% honest with any car I sell, I've got to tell you that I think the roof on this needs re-sealing. During the persistent heavy rain we had over the weekend, it acquired a couple of damp patches inside. There's no holes or tears in the roof and I think a clean and re-seal would cure it. I've washed it with a hose before, and it's had lighter rain on it and it's been fine, but the heavy rain we had here got in in a couple of places. I don't think it's too much of a faff to re-seal the floppy, but I really can't be asked to be honest. If anyone's interested in buying or swapping, I have a brand new set of rear discs and pads sitting here, which I'll sell separately, as I can't really afford to give them away. If the car had been an auto, I'd have done the work and kept it because it's a great little driver.Price for car - how about £550? Discs and pads for £40.
Tetleysmooth Posted September 24, 2018 Author Posted September 24, 2018 By the way, I fitted a new set of the correct platinum plugs to this last week.
Guest Hooli Posted September 24, 2018 Posted September 24, 2018 I'd really like a 9-5 auto estate, or maybe another Volvo auto estate. I'd like the car that Hooli is selling, but must admit the gearbox/oil leak/cooling issues are putting me off a bit. Bloody cheap though. If it helps at all I'd drive it anywhere without worrying. The box is only an issue with a lot of town work as is the heater, the engine temp is spot on at all times. The oil leak never reaches the floor but you might get a wiff of oil burning after a decent motorway run. I'd rather talk a car down on here that have anyone say I'd hid faults. loserone 1
Tetleysmooth Posted September 24, 2018 Author Posted September 24, 2018 You've got me tempted Hooli, old chap. Is it a box out job to fit that *new* control unit?
loserone Posted September 24, 2018 Posted September 24, 2018 This would fly out at £10 a ticket, it's just the right time to be getting a convertible. Sadly five cars means only surprise roffle wins for me, otherwise glws! tonedepear 1
Guest Hooli Posted September 24, 2018 Posted September 24, 2018 You've got me tempted Hooli, old chap. Is it a box out job to fit that *new* control unit? Nope. It's roughly - Drain gearboxRadiator outBattery & try outTake control unit off the top of the boxFit the new one & reassemble.
CortinaDave Posted September 24, 2018 Posted September 24, 2018 I know you dont want to raffle, but itd be a quick way to get your cash and its pretty straightforward. Looks great, but I know the aggro of trying to sell a convertible at the arse end of the year, roffle at a £9-tenner a ticket's your best shout IMO. 2 randoms please
Tetleysmooth Posted September 24, 2018 Author Posted September 24, 2018 I've never done a raffle and haven't got a clue how to go about it.

Guest Hooli Posted September 24, 2018 Posted September 24, 2018 I've never done a raffle and haven't got a clue how to go about it. Put a ticket price up.Keep a list of numbers chosen/assign randoms to those that ask for them. Total numbers are 1-59.Send out payment details once all sold and collect monies.Pick and announce a day the lottery has a draw, the bonus ball that day is the lucky winna.
SiC Posted September 24, 2018 Posted September 24, 2018 Nope. It's roughly - Drain gearboxRadiator outBattery & try outTake control unit off the top of the boxFit the new one & reassemble.I think the valve body lives in the front of the box. Certainly was on the 9-3 that I pulled the valve body. Don't think I pulled the bumper off.
Guest Hooli Posted September 24, 2018 Posted September 24, 2018 From memory it's at about 45degress on the front/top of the box, but it is over a year since I looked on WIS to check.
dozeydustman Posted September 24, 2018 Posted September 24, 2018 I am very tempted but a straight sale is right out of my budget sadly. I'd take a punt if you did waffle it.
Slartibartfast Posted September 24, 2018 Posted September 24, 2018 The wantage is high but I have zero available car slots and I can't see this being a good choice of first car for the eldest sproglet.
gadgetgricey Posted September 24, 2018 Posted September 24, 2018 #28 & #47 if we do waffle. Still thinking about purchase outright. Any interest in a 216 Auto cabriolet??

Talbot Posted September 25, 2018 Posted September 25, 2018 I would have two randoms for a roooofle on this, and actually want it too.
Tetleysmooth Posted October 1, 2018 Author Posted October 1, 2018 Now sold. It's staying in the family. Prepare for more floppytop action soon.
