outlaw118 Posted July 16, 2009 Author Posted July 16, 2009 The rest of us left about 11.20; I played the stupid "beat the satnav" game on the way home - it predicted 62miles, home by 00.25, I managed 00.18. IN YOUR FACE TECHNOLOGY!!!!yes I know I'm sad, but who else on here has NEVER done it??
Mr Lobster Posted July 16, 2009 Posted July 16, 2009 Hey man, some people browse this at work! Not me like, I'm way too busy to do that.Yeh, me too. I'm very busy indeed Thankfully I am unable to see this horrific image as work servers have done a big OMGZ POGZ HORROR IMAGE R BLOKD.
daverapid Posted July 16, 2009 Posted July 16, 2009 I hadn't heard anything about the more recent Pog/RR stuff mentioned in this thread, from what I've seen he's a thoroughly decent family guy with a great sense of humour and a love of shite cars! Would be great to see him at an event IMO.BTW the car I took last night was an Estelle 130GL. Another great meet was had, would have been a bit better with the presence of Mr Pog though!
Torsten2001 Posted July 16, 2009 Posted July 16, 2009 So WTF was the issue, were you spurned by a Metro Pog?
Guest Posted July 16, 2009 Posted July 16, 2009 Pog spent ages knocking up a thread about MC Hammer's spinoff cartoon "Hammerman", including episode guides and character biographies. He even made a real life copy of his magical talking shoes which must have taken absolutely ages - they didn't actually talk (obviously) but they did look sort-of like the ones off the cartoon, they had eyes and pretend teeth and all that. However the mods deemed it off-topic and the whole lot was deleted. This fuelled the fire, but to further add insult to injury, so were two other threads of his about "Police Academy: The Animated Series" and "Capitol Critters".This was the straw that broke the camel's back - Pog went mental and damaged numerous items in his household including a tupperware box lid. At this stage Mrs Pog said "no more" and this brings us to where we are today.
FredTransit Posted July 16, 2009 Posted July 16, 2009 I don't understand why RR has a 'no non retro content' policy. We are all only human and have other interest (OK not many in my case) so it wouldn't hurt to have an off topic section. Every other forum I am on has one.....
FredTransit Posted July 16, 2009 Posted July 16, 2009 At the opposite end of the scale, there is this forum, everything in one lump
Spottedlaurel Posted July 16, 2009 Posted July 16, 2009 I still go along to my local RR 'meat' despite not being an RRer. Well, I missed the last one but that was due to other commitments. Autoshite usually has a healthy representation there anyway.
FredTransit Posted July 16, 2009 Posted July 16, 2009 I much prefer this forum. It's not obligatory to lower anything to come on here.....
dollywobbler Posted July 16, 2009 Posted July 16, 2009 Oh stop with the RR-bashing again. I APPLAUD their efforts to keep it on topic. If you want to talk crap, come here. I do.And there certainly isn't a rule that you MUST have a lowered car. I don't and I've got a very scary post count on RR, so has Magical Mystery Tours or whatever his name is, who has a VERY jacked UP Mitsubishi Delica thing. That and my 2CV, with off-road suspension settings, are not what anyone this side of a Bigfoot driver would call low.As far as I'm aware, last night was just a few car blokes chatting in a pub car park.
outlaw118 Posted July 16, 2009 Author Posted July 16, 2009 I think you'd gone for a wee when we were discussing a military coup, and compulsory castration for anyone with a Ssanyong Rodious......
Guest Tony Hayers Posted July 16, 2009 Posted July 16, 2009 Thanks Pog, every time I see a Range Rover classic that image is going to appear   And I do agree with what has been said on the RR 'skool of thoughtz' Thats why I offered that Felicia on here and not on RR. If I had it would have been slammed on cut springs, matt black paint (roller jobbie) and flames up a 1/3 of the car. It would have looked like a matt black piss pot partly on fire
seth Posted July 16, 2009 Posted July 16, 2009 As far as I'm aware, last night was just a few car blokes chatting in a pub car park.Hear hear Dolly. The main reason that the meet is associated with R-R is because the bloke that started it and suggested the venue used to be a member there. If you prefer this forum to that one it just means you prefer chatting about and or driving shite than modified classics/shite. That's not exactly a crime.
FredTransit Posted July 16, 2009 Posted July 16, 2009 Absolutely. I wasn't bashing anybody, just said I prefer this forum.
pogweasel Posted July 16, 2009 Posted July 16, 2009 For the record, I do not have issue with what RR is, or the general themes of current modification fashions that are prevalent within. However, I do have issues with the way in which the managment dealt with the whole 'skool' issue. I also have issues with the fact that persons from within the RR community then took it upon themselves to post foul-mouthed abuse on the message board of my website. Until such time as I recieve an apology for the way in which long-standing members (not just myself) were ignored, and later defamed during 'skool-gate', and some sort of acknowledgement that RR members who attempt to bring down other websites would at very least be discouraged (!?) then RR and RR-associated events remain a total no-go.
outlaw118 Posted July 16, 2009 Author Posted July 16, 2009 I'm not a member of RR, not for any other reason that I can't be arsed; however, if other members have an issue; ie Pog, then thats up to them.Which is all the more reason to have an Autoshite Retro Social Event (see wot I did there?) at some point.Who's in?
mnde Posted July 16, 2009 Posted July 16, 2009 +1 I'd be up for an AS meet in the Southern Region. What we need perhaps is one of those online maps with pins in to show where people are from... BXClub has one on Frappr: http://www.frappr.com/bxclubuk Mark.
r.welfare Posted July 16, 2009 Posted July 16, 2009 We did one at the Ace Cafe in December 2007, I think. It was ruddy cold, but still good. There was an unofficial one in Watford the year before that.
trigger Posted July 16, 2009 Posted July 16, 2009 I'd be up for a bit of A.R.S.E action if It's not to far from me.
garycox Posted July 16, 2009 Posted July 16, 2009 Me too, although I have no shite to come in 'til my Mini's back on the road (might be a while... and if you don't think a Mini can be shite then you haven't seen mine!) but I assume everybody loves to see mid-nineties Transits, don't they?
outlaw118 Posted July 16, 2009 Author Posted July 16, 2009 I reckon Pog's just not allowed out....is heA) TaggedB) Under the thumbC) A pre-op transexualD) Hideously Disfigured due to a bizarre Hydragas/Metro incidentE) Someone famous that can't move for paparazziF) All of the above. What do YOU think readers??
seth Posted July 16, 2009 Posted July 16, 2009 D. Except it was probably an old Land/Range Rover and involved a Russell. Some A.R.S.E. would be good. But its a pretty big region. We could piggy back an Ace classic night again (Second Tuesday). Or there's a couple of Classics on the Green events at Croxley (near Watford) one on Wed 5th August, other Sunday20th Sept. Worth considering?
Mr Lobster Posted July 17, 2009 Posted July 17, 2009 Yep, some A.R.S.E would definately be good A user map as suggested above would be a good idea as well.
