mrbenn Posted May 23, 2019 Posted May 23, 2019 I suspect they're hoping people won't take it as far as the tribunal. Don't be shy to seek outside assistance, even just a phone call in the right direction may help you know where you stand. LightBulbFun 1

I've had similar experiences with education (which I won't go into here) an in the end we have had to escalate through several layers of complaint which has worked. Also, please consider speaking to your MP if you haven't already. You may not believe it, but sometimes this has direct results. LightBulbFun 1

(anyone who has been to my house knows just how unsuitable a wheel chair would be for me sadly) I think the place I sort of shot myself in the foot in so to speak is during the assessment, i said in a couple questions that yes I can said thing, but it causes me a lot of pain and will end up disabling me for quite some time and I cant do it repeatedly I should of just said "no i cant do that" (but that would of technically been lying, but im too good for my own good it seems ? Exactly what happened to my mum. "Can you stand at the sink and wash pots "? "Yea, I have to I live on my own" "Tough shit, you're fit". You need a good quack to write a letter including the classic phrase "you have failed in your duty of care towards me". Those words generally strike fear into most people who have any form of responsibility as 'Injury lawyers for you etc' start rubbing their hands. LightBulbFun 1
LightBulbFun Posted May 24, 2019 Author Posted May 24, 2019 how did it work out for your mum in the end there if you dont mind me asking? on the Invacar front, if anyone recalls, on the early days of invacars on AS, it was thought that one of the differences between AC and Invacar Model 70,s was ACs had a roof gasket where as Invacars dont, (Because TPA has one but TWC does not) however outside of 2 other Invacar Model 70,s from the field, all other Invacar Model 70,s I have seen have had roof gaskets, including SPU870K an Invacar Model 70 older then TWC, so that finally rules out it being a thing that maybe changed mid production (because up until now all other Invacar Model 70,s I have seen where newer then TWC) im guessing then TWC was taken apart at some point in her life, and then whoever put her back together again forgot to put the roof gasket back on (this also tallies up with some other inconstancies iv noticed with TWC)
busmansholiday Posted May 24, 2019 Posted May 24, 2019 My mother's quack wrote a very strongly worded letter to them. A week or so later she got everything back, no apology or anything. I understand that the whole system is now designed so you fail. Make sure if asked to attend you ask them how?, are you providing a taxi, is it at ground floor level (as I cannot climb stairs), will you be able to help me in / out of transport etc. You need to lay it on thick. stonedagain and LightBulbFun 2
busmansholiday Posted May 24, 2019 Posted May 24, 2019 In terms of what happened to Invacars, when my grandfather died in the mid 60's my parents told the relevant department and they sent a man around who simply collected it and took it back to the local depot. In terms of the missing posts, this site is backed up, talk to the mods, they may* be able to help. LightBulbFun 1
LightBulbFun Posted May 24, 2019 Author Posted May 24, 2019 it seems like it sadly im happy your mum was able to sort things out in the end tho (examinations I have been called to, we always claim the taxi expense so they know that much, or should in theory at least! ) I wonder what invacar your grandfather drove, being mid 1960s or older, could of been any number of different makes and models of invalid carriage and good idea on asking the mods, I was thinking about that as well.

mrbenn Posted May 25, 2019 Posted May 25, 2019 Good advice. No harm in getting a bit of specialist help here ?
LightBulbFun Posted May 26, 2019 Author Posted May 26, 2019 I wonder what the reddish brown invalid carriage is here? im thinking some sort of Harper but im not 100% sure... on the note of football, I wonder when was the last football match featuring invacars on the pitch side? (or when did they stop allowing people with invacars onto the pitch, if you where still using one in 2003, could you still drive onto the pitch?)
dean36014 Posted May 26, 2019 Posted May 26, 2019 I just watching a video by coventry transport museum about exhibits that are being brought out for motofest next weekend. At the end is a very shiny invacar, just thought I'd highlight it incase it's one you were unaware off. LightBulbFun Posted May 26, 2019 Author Posted May 26, 2019 For once someone gets their facts right! (in reference to the "they are however still road legal" ) indeed I am aware of TJN352R, but I appreciate you letting me know just incase I was not aware of it TJN352R reportedly, was the Last Model 70 in DHSS service, surviving until April 2004 IIRC, "owned" by Mrs webb. im glad to see its in running order, if sadly the wrong shade of blue! edit: I see they gave it an MOT in march

That's Maine Road Manchester, the old home of City (v Stoke looking at that). I knew that before clicking on the pic and going "search Google for this image". Try it, I notice amongst the stock images form Alamy that were similar were other grounds with Invacars, including a bit of video. Something to do on a Sunday. mrbenn and LightBulbFun 2

Something to do on a Sunday. indeed I have used googles reverse image search quite a bit as you mention and yeah iv seen a good few football pictures with invacars hiding in the background curiously most of the pictures iv seen, seem to be from the early 70s or older, as not many feature Model 70's, mostly older stuff Mk12s 57s 67s etc
LightBulbFun Posted May 26, 2019 Author Posted May 26, 2019 check out what stuart posted in response to the guy making the Model 70 models asking for Invacar paint codes its official Invacar colour info! supposedly its what they used after 1994 for touch ups n stuff, ATW722L was repainted according to it. stuart thinks it was a touch too green and was more like what was used on 1966-68 vehicles but it may of just been the bright sunlight it was pictured in I personally think it looks pretty good, and compares pretty well to GPG721K, which I dont think has ever been repainted on account of being off the road since 1978 LOL should be very useful for @Zelandeth and @egg and anyone else looking to repaint an Invacar! mrbenn 1

LightBulbFun Posted May 26, 2019 Author Posted May 26, 2019 one for @egg it turns out that this, is the only surviving invalid carriage prototype of any kind, its a factory prototype model of a Mk10 Invacar you could argue its the only known surviving Mk10 Invacar egg and mrbenn 2
LightBulbFun Posted May 26, 2019 Author Posted May 26, 2019 the Survivors list has been updated with JNJ135L, turns out despite not showing up on the DVLA checker for some reason, it DOES show up on the MOT checker, and on my Number plate to VIN number thingy and is indeed out there somewhere still, I wonder why it does not show up on the main DVLA checker page also turns out AC Model 70s with chassis numbers starting with "PS" do indeed indicate that it was a Model 70 sold privately, its thought PS stands for Private sale (and the chassis numbers go all the way back to the metal AC Acedes hence why even tho very few private AC model 70,s where sold, they all have long chassis numbers and for those wondering government Metal AC Acedes have chassis numbers starting with MH, which we suspect stands for Ministry (of) Health) privately sold Invacar Model 70s start with "C" which explains REV451Rs weird chassis number and just to add to the confusion, Private Invacar Model 70s have short AC style chassis numbers so at first I thought REV451R may of had a chassis from an AC Model 70 or such LOL (im not sure why they start with C, but I wonder if it stands for customer?) also unlike Private ACs which Seemed to be registered where they where being sold to, private Invacar Model 70's look to have just been lumped in with whatever batch of DHSS Model 70's where being made at the time mrbenn 1

LightBulbFun Posted May 28, 2019 Author Posted May 28, 2019 Ohh thanks for the heads up, I left them with a fun fact tweet (I also see you tweeted about it, indeed someone one has painted it the wrong shade of the blue sadly!) as a side note I did some counting last night and if my counting is correct I have 106 AC and Invacar Model 70 registration/chassis numbers documented at the time of writing this mrbenn 1
dollywobbler Posted May 28, 2019 Posted May 28, 2019 Here's a fun fact. Elly the 2CV was sold new by Charles Lewis garage in Shrewsbury. Apparently, they also had the Invacar contract for Shrewsbury! So, potentially, TWC is not Elly's first Invacar friend. Amazed by that! LightBulbFun, egg and mrbenn 3

But it looks like somebody has simply mis spelt (or mis numbered) it as Neves Garage is in Sidcup and just the first numbers are the wrong way around.

Yeah I also noticed the number plate too "dealer plates" on an invacar I did google the garage name and it looks like they are still around I think? but I did not notice the phone-number stuff, good spot
LightBulbFun Posted May 29, 2019 Author Posted May 29, 2019 JNJ135L has this rather interesting MOT fail, I wonder how old the cross-plys where LOL also the use of plural "tyres" when talking about the tyre on the front axle (reminds me of a Reliant Robin on here that failed an MOT because of a brake imbalance across the front axle?!) (im curious why its the rear tyres that are wrong and not the front one thats wrong for example?) mrbenn 1
catsinthewelder Posted May 29, 2019 Posted May 29, 2019 I think you are allowed to have (a) crossply(s) on the front and radials on the back but not the other way around and never mixed on an axle. Wording will be standard on the computer program so is wrong for 3 wheelers. Datsuncog, Braddon81, mrbenn and 1 other 4
