This weekend is the weekend of the Nationals at the Suffolk Showground here in Ipswich, On the Saturday they do a cruise to Felixstowe front before the show and shine tomorrow on the field.

I've just popped to Sainsburys to do something and seen a lot of the cars desending on the place!.

There's a big show going on today at Trinity Park (was the Suffolk Showground). I saw on on Friday on the A14 eastbound just after the Copdock Mill junction, it was slewed across the outside lane, which brought everything to a stop.

You just know this guy is thin as a rake, with drainpipes and a slick quiff...

Hard to believe now, but I used to be! Way back when I had my Anglia (never had the money or the skills to build something like this, but I did read all the magazines...).

Posted

You'll be creaming yourself later then Eddy when i put my photos from the Nationals that i took today on here at some point, There was some of the best rods in the country there today, It was fantastic!

Posted

I'd might as well add these as well, I went to the farm yesterday where my dad works and my tamed mechanic has his work shop and i saw these.

I don't know what the crack is with this, It's been off the road for a year though.

This Imp was a garage find, My mechanic has the just of doing all the welding on it which is new sills are arches, it's not been taxed since 1990.

Posted Image

This is a 2000 W plate LDV van that belongs to a tree surgeon, You might be wondering what so exciting about that, Well it went in for it's mot but failed on a spot of welding.

Posted Image

Oh dear, the floor is totally shagged out, The rear of the cab need welding to as well as the chassis, quite worrying for a 10 year old van with only 133000 miles.

Posted

They do seem somewhat rust-prone, we've got two LDV minibus's at work. The old one is T reg and generally a bit battered with a lot of bubbles and streaking coming from the gutters. The new one is an 04 plate and is really crusty around the sills and arches, they'd been dusted over with paint when we got it (cheaply)at 4 years old

This was at a Skoda dealers in Colchester, It only had 23000 miles on the clock and was a 1.6 Automatic, I can't imagine many of these about, I thought they was all 1300cc, Shame about the lack of front bumper and the big dent in the door.

This is listed as having a years road tax, Must mean it has a current mot and looking at the new plate which is simiar to that of the Prefect above and the lack of lights it makes me wonder how stright these mots are.

Has that Polo got a later grille/bumpers on? Looks odd on a 'V' plate, somehow...

Your right, that is the same car, The lad who's bought it of the last lady sounds a bit of a twat though!, I get the impression he's a salesman at the Skoda garage.

In this thread the last lady owner tells him to basically bugger off.

and this one he writes this...

i even undertook an aston martin at 98mph as the passenger laughed at my magnificent maestro

DAN! DAN! THE NISSAN MAN!

I'm sure there used to be adverts for Dan Perkins that proclaimed just that. Or maybe I just imagined it.

Top marks for that Allegro. Bet it was parked outside an old fashioned hairdressers called 'Renee's' or something...the old bird had gone in for a shampoo and blue rinse ready for Chrimbo.

Posted

Sadly not, it was parked outside Ladbrooks, Must be a old boy gambling on his pension!

Posted

Excellent! - That VDP Allegro is awesome. The second photo gains extra shitepoints for the Talbot Express in the background :D

I think seeing an Allegro like that on a bleak winter's day would cheer any of us up. :D

I seen a few recent spots so i thought I'd update this.

This lot live next door to the Transport Museum here in Ipswich, I don't think it has anything to do with them but it's strange to see so many old 80's Fords sitting here, Most look quite rusty though.

Further back in the thread you would have seen a PT Cruiser covered in hand paint advertising this garage, it now has company with this rare Nissan S-Cargo van, It was a bit tatty inside and someones smashed the drivers window but I'm sure it was to good to be treated like this.

uve definitely got a camera Trigger finger mate..great spots..

Posted

Brilliant!, That's the same guy i saw driving it as well, Must be a local boy then, I was disappointed i wasn't in the Kadett at the time, It would have made quite a good photo both of us sat next to each other at the traffic lights.

Posted

GR32 spottage there Trig. That 16 is a belter. An old boy round here had oen exactly the same as that from when it was new in about 1977. When the old chap died 2 years ago, his idiot son had the Renner fragged, even though it was on the road. I actually callled him a twat for that.

Posted

I know that dealership near Clacton, they also have a Mitsubishi unCharismatic and PT Cruiser with graffiti all over them to "attract customers to the dealership". If it wasn't for the graffiti, (and the fact that they were a Mitsubishi unCharismatic and a PT Cruiser) they'd have been quite nice cars.

EDIT:- Just found the PT in the thread. N00B alert and all that.

I assume you're local-ish to me. Frinton-On-Sea posse!

I assume you're local-ish to me. Frinton-On-Sea posse!

Ah Another Yokel!, I'm in Ipswich but from Colchester so i spend a lot of my time in that area still, The whole of the Clacton area is excellent for shite spotting though.

So do you live inside the gates then?.

Posted

So do you live inside the gates then?.

Ha, no, I don't think I have the right paperwork and evidence of heraldic ancestry to live there, I'm outside the gates where it's still possible to find a house for less than £500k...

I "work" in Colch, though.
