Clicked this thread because I have a good friend who's owned both of those! I will ask him for suggestions.

He's always said that they're the only '60s cars you could really use every day now (plus maybe Citroën DS, although none of our circle have had one).

I dread to think what P&P to America would be like ordering from Rimmers - it's eye watering just to Warrington.

By far the best thing to do is re-use the original parts where possible. And disturb as little as possible.

Purplebargeken had an Amazon for a while so would be worth chatting to.

Just had an email from the guy I bought Shitestang from in California he has just dragged a couple of cars out of a barn and wants to restore them.

1964 Volvo Amazon

1967 Series 1 Rover 2000 tc P6

He is having problem getting parts over there and wondered if I knew of any Volvo Amazon  And/Or Rover P6 Specialists over here where he can get parts?

I pointed him in the direction of Rimmer Brothers for P6 though they only list the V8.

When it comes to Volvo I am Clueless :(

Anybody help with some links for him?

Jo

Volvo fans in the USA have a dedicated parts supplier covering virtually everything Volvo in the shape of IPD..

I restored my Amazon last year using Brookhouse as pretty much the only supplier when I needed replacement stuff. Full recommended from here! They were recommended by my friend with this lovely Kombi as well. They definitely will do their best with postage charges too.

I have always found Brookhouse to be f***ing expensive tbh.  They want £258 for a nearside front caliper for the 164 ffs - that's only £92 less than I paid for the whole fugging car (and £216 more than I paid for the NOS offside caliper that is now on the car).

I managed to avoid having to buy any of the really pricey bits. Rear drums for an Amazon for example. They contain the wheel bearing so £££. Don't know if I could have sourced some anywhere else for less though.

In terms of service, they're brilliant. A few times I placed an order only to remember stuff I had missed the next day. Paid for the second order and they bundled it all in one box and refunded me the second lot of postage, unprompted.

However, it would help if we knew which parts are needed.

Different specialists for different parts, you know.

And who knows, I might have it down in the dungeon anyway.

Nah, man. There's still half a real P6 down there.

Stop trying to palm off your haunted spares onto some unsuspecting septic!

It was Brookhouse mainly for me tbh. Classicswede also for some bits. The VOC forum was also a useful source of bits.

Sam G has been having all sorts of fun* with my old one of late.Makes me realise that it really was not the car for me. I love the look of them but I never gelled with it at all really which was a shame. I never actually realised that it was going to be so much bloody work.
