Olympus SLR STUNNAHS:

20120808_191743.jpg

OM - 1 was a mega barginous find but may well find itself on the bay very soon because of its condition and what they go for generally. I bought the FTL a good while ago, mainly because it was a piss cheap way of getting an f/1.4 50 mm lens (with a matching camera body attached).

Unfortunately the FTL lens plays hell with my Nikon F \ M42 adaptor fully open, so I may as well get into some OLD SKOOL FOTOS ROFL whilst I'm at it. Then again, I might put the lens back on the bay on its own (whole lot was £58, lenses alone go for £120+) and use the body with some of the other M42 shite I've got lying around.

£15 for a pedestrian day visitor? I thought of popping along tomorrow for a gander but on second thoughts...

That's about 1/16th of what it used to cost to join the CCC. My BXs used to get 'flyered' quite a bit, presumably by a local Citroen fan, but I wasn't going to pay the extortianate (sp?) yearly fees. I also don't get along with the BX correspondant and didn't want to read what he wrote for free, let alone pay for it.

I'm gonna go, mainly because it's a car event that's on in the week, it's massive.....and, eeeerm, I may have something of interest that a Citroen perv might want to buy. And it's not the C4. I need that.

Moar event infos. http://icccr2012.org.uk/new/en/index.shtml

Each to their own. I'm far from a CCC fan, but I think I know to whom you refer, and my BX Mk1 would look even more shit if it wasn't for his efforts and donations of free parts.

To be honest, I'm not entirely sure what this event is going to be like. I've been to CCC meetings and they can be incredibly dull. However, BX folk seem a good bunch, and the 2CV lot are pretty darned good (I've known some of the 2CV folks for a VERY long time) so I'm determined to have fun. If it is boring, it's in North Yorkshire! Not like there's nowt else to do. Marvellous part of the world.

Is the CCC worth the membership fee if you don't drive a 2CV, DS or CX?

I have a vision of beardy people. Cliquey beardy people who think the CX was the last real Citroen before Peugeot contaminated the gene pool...

I don't know. I'm not a member of CCC. There's definitely an emphasis on 'classic' Cits, but there are definitely some types who STILL see 2CVers as just wanting a party and not giving a stuff about the car (2CVGB split off in 1978, largely because people did want to have a party and some fun!). That was over 30 years ago. Only one club now does parts remanufacture for the 2CV...(and it ain't CCC!).

Has to be said though, there's already a very strong following for the XM and Xantia, so they're not anti-new at all. In fact, there's a depressing number of DS3 owners that I've seen at events.

Decided I'm going to the Citroen thing as well what with it only being an hour away. Looks like it should be pretty good, bit salty but it gets me out of the house and looking at old French cars so its all good>

I'm hoping Citroen send some of their nicer stuff, but this is also fairly close to a certain church packed full of Gallic delights...

Is this anywhere near Harrogate, this church? Sounds interesting! I went into Harrogate on Monday morning and saw 2 2CVs, a German registered DS and a Mulliner Park Ward Silver Cloud RR in the space of a mile.

I would love to go as

a) it's on my bloody doorstep &

B) it'll be chock full of weird French cars

c) I hope to see DW's mk1 BX estate.

However, it coincides with an Open Uni residential scholl in Bath that I must attend, so I'm going to have to pass this one over - although I may take a quick swatch tomorrow evening, briefly.

It's a 70 mile drive for me - so no sweat.

And no Barrett, I don't want to sell the, erm, vehicle in question, but my finances are screaming for mercy so it might not be the only thing that gets cleared. Going to the ICCC2012 puts it in front of a large audience. I can't really hold on for much longer monetarily speaking.

And anyways, this is the non grump thread - so I will PM you.

There is a haulage firm near where I currently worked with the word 'ALLEGRO' proudly emblazoned down the side of their trucks. On the way home, a gold Citroen GS came past towing what I think was a Citroen Type B on a trailer. Gave the guy a wave and he waved back. Also pulled up alongside a Rover 214 Cabrio (pre-bubble) with rough paint and a sellotaped rear light, he got a big fat thumbs up from me.

Todays day brightener:

Using the windscreen of my coach to dispatch a pigeon to the afterlife at 62mph.

OK, so that in itself wasn't quite good enough. The cherry was the fact I saw it coming......and the woman in the front seat didn't. !!!BANG!!! I'll let your imaginations fill in the rest.

I took the dog out for a walk tonight...around a field with hundreds of Citroens in it! I just chanced it, saw DW's stripey BX estate(I thought he was taking the mk1, but there you go!) but not the man himself, a phalanx of 2CVs, a plethora of DS, some CX and a pair of SM side-by-side.

It would be worth the £15 for the full day.
