Rover 75 May just be okay after all. Maybe....

It's just a one way valve, vaccum pipe between manifold and servo. Needs to be airtight though- a straight hose would suffice.

Cheers Tiff, if my second repair attempt fails then straight pipe it is.

Yes, I did indeed top up said coolant and will check the level again in a min.

Anyway now it seems to be perfectly OK, let's talk about this £165 figure you mentioned.....

I recall no £165 figure. Nope, not at all. However, always open to offers/swaps.

Thanks Rod/d, I will persevere with the fixings as long as I can, but at least I know where and what now. Cheers.

I'm surprised you haven't mentioned swappage with a MGF. ;)

Well you know how to sort out the manifold gasket so that's a start!

Result!  As it happens, I thought my K had OMGHGF and we changed that gasket.... then it did a OMGHGF anyway, but it was unrelated.  DON'T PANIC.

Don't be surprised if it smokes like an absolute git for the first few miles either, it astonished me last time I helped sort out a car that had suffered a catastrophic HG failure how bloody long it took all the crud in the exhaust system to burn off.

We really were expecting to have to start over for a while, until it suddenly just stopped smoking like someone had flicked a switch.

It's mostly stopped tbh, will be able to give her a proper run on Saturday

Perfect, glad to see that it is all sorted out now. Like I said on Saturday it is really rather nice.

So, this is the troublesome bit. Obviously has an impact on revs but apart from that I have no iodea.

What is it? Can I get one? Where can I get one? Or..... can I just remove it and fit a nice piece of rubber hose between the two things?

These are always brittle and knackered. You can get brand new non brittle ones from DMGRS... i had to replace them on my ZT 190 a few months back. Sure it was about 20 quid all in.

It's more the breathers on the V6 that cause problems, but any split on a pipe into the inlet will draw in unmetered air and will send the emissions and idle speed crazy as the ECU tries to compensate.

^^ It certainly bloody does. I was sat there thinking WTAF!!??!!
