Shite bartering

I will confess:

I am crap at car electrics. Not great at spannering either, although I enjoy tinkering with mine but only when I want to.

My forte is bodywork. I don't do 2k due to the isocyanates but stick to 1k and cellulose which is fine for small repairs and classic cars. I also have a car trailer with a good towcar so can do delivery of vehicles.

I am also tight with cash. No way am I paying garage rates to fix my mostly worthless heaps. My friend who used to do my spannering has stopped working on cars.

So...

Does anybody have a service they want to trade? Not just me but for others. In these austere days we need to stick together.

The first thing I shall mention is this:

I need some wiring doing on my Citroen ZX ( nothing major ) anybody within a reasonable distance want to fix it in return for some welding?

Or would this type of bartering just lead to fall outs due to people's perceived values of their work not matching others?

Good idea, I'm afraid my talents don't match those found on here, I do spannering but maybe I could help with software acquisition...

Whereabouts are you (doesn't show on mobile site)? I'm pretty good with PSA electrics of that era and have spent years spannering them, but know I'm pretty hopeless when it comes to bodywork and welding...

Obvious solution: be communists about it. Price the job on time-everyone's is worth the same, regardless of the job they're doing (assuming they do whatever they do to a reasonable standard that is!)

Welding/LECKTRIX to me should be around the same value however it is quite comical how some people value their skills compared to others. I don't need anything welded right now but if I did as an industrial electrician I'd consider it a very fair swap.

Another good way to ensure parity is to do the work needed simultaneously, that way round I've knows exactly what the others doing, up to you how fast you work.

Am pretty good with interiors and I make a fucking outstanding Baileys Bread & Butter pudding.

This is worth A LOT. Four maybe five welding jobs to one of those I reckon.

Samples greatly received.

Kringle, you are a person of huge intellect and social standing. I salute you. You are of course, utterly correct.

The samples would get squishy in the post though.

They are pretty fucking outstanding.

Where in the country do you live?

I suspect you don't really live in Nepal!

Nor do I own a Sherpa...

Ludlow, Shropshire. If someone wants to fix the ZX wiring and doesn't need anything doing straight away then I'm happy to issue a credit note!

As I'm out of the loop on a few things being based t'other side of euro canal - I'll offer any translation services for French, German, Dutch and (with GF help) Polish too plus of course a free bed and continental breakfast for anyone wanting to travel via Brussels.

I'm also happy as Larry inspecting and photographing chod that you may find within 'reasonable' distance of here in Begium, Lux, NL and France or Germany. Anything within 2-3hrs would/could be possible - or NL, FR and DE friends could be cajoled into reporting back.

John

EDIT - in return - I may be on collecting duties in UK and get fubar'd so need emergency assistance to a train station or something....... fingers crossed that will never* happen

This is a very good idea, for it to work there needs to be some kind of data base.

Name.

Location and distance/area willing to travel.

Skills.

I personally don't have any real skills but am willing to lend a hand.

All jobs are equal except some are more equal than others lol.

Members will have to argue amongst themselves about what work/time is actually done.

What sort of electrical work needs doing on it? I know a bit about electrics/electronics and may be able to help! You're not terribly far from me either (about 2 hours-ish).

I'm potentially looking at buying a rusty car that needs a little bit of sparkly stick on the backend too.

I'm trademarking that by the way.

From memory - there's a way of using Google Maps to overlay with users and details.  Pin in the map stuff.  We use it at work to list events and stuff like that.  That would be infinitely more user friendly than a long list of people and what they can't do.

Does that matter though? No addresses and phone numbers on here. No cash exchanged so no tax avoidance.
