*May not actually be for sale

Noble Recycling

Randolph Place

Kirkcaldy

KY1 2YX

01592 651 394

Next open Monday at 8am.

There is nothing noble about scrapping this MOT'd, one owner 405.

62k miles at it's last MOT in February and nothing unduly worrying in it's MOT history. These photos were taken by Alan Gold last Sunday (14/01/2018) so it's number may well be up by now but I thought it would be worth posting here anyway considering how clean it looks.

Given the company it's in, are these all for dismantling? Was it taken in as part of the grate scrappage rip-off?

I hope not. All I know is what I've written I'm afraid.

That's fucking stunning......

Usual excuses apply but could be up for a minor share in some sort of convuleted group buy

It’s with trade rather than scrapped so there might be a chance of saving it

That's good news, how do you tell that it is in trade?

I am going to be near here with a flatbed car transporter trailer this coming week.  If someone wants to buy it, I can probably* bring it back down south for peanuts.

If you look it up on vehicleenquiry.service.gov.uk and it says “this vehicle may be taxed at a post office without th V5”, it’s with trade.

I was about to say give them a ring on Monday but if 10 people do then the price is going to be quite high.  Could somebody (preferably with a local accent) ring and then post a response?

'hawrite there pal, passed by yir yaird this moarnin, noticed ye've a wee auld 405 sittin ootside, ken if its fur sale like?'

Phone up and say that and you should get a response.

So apparently Noble Recycling deal with exporting too so it may be earmarked for export which may be bad news for UK shiters; if they can get mega bucks elsewhere they aren't going to want to sell it cheaper here.

Despite blatantly sounding like I come from the home counties, I have done exactly this in the past in Dundee at a breakers yard.  It works, but you have to keep up the accent for the entirity of the conversation.  I thought I was busted at one point!

There are two British accents - the one that I can understand and the one that I can't.

I'm afraid they speak the latter in that scrapyard.

Were I the scrapman who'd just paid £100 to take it off someone's driveway, I'd want £4-500 to make it worth my while.

Could be any number of reasons its in the breakers, could be rotten as fuck underneath, engine shot, clutch gone etc. If it's had the COD there's no way back.

If it's as clean as it looks then £500 wouldn't be a terrible amount to pay.

Unless as you say it's fucked underneath

Mot Til end February... 61k and only minor advisories last test. This is only a couple of miles from me but nobles are unpredictable to deal with. The probably won't sell it. All depends on his mood on the day.

I can certainly drive past and see if its still there if anyone's interested. Local reg too.

Sounds like nearly every scrap man I've ever had dealings with. Wouldn't give £500 on it, you could get a running one for that.

Could be deceased estate with no family, the council would just scrap something like this, its quicker, they wouldn't think "that would make a nice car for somebody".

the fact that its the only one that is from that row suggests someone bought it.. if it was crushed theyd have taken the lot in at once

Posted

The area is filled with cars suitable for export such as Mercedes, 4x4's, pickups, Toyotas etc. I doubt it would have been crushed.

I wonder if they would buy my landcruiser?

Scrap a car Scotland in Thornton pays better than nobles in my experience. They're relatively generous. Gave me 150 for my old ZT in the autumn .

Drivers mirror folded in, can't see it being like that if its getting weighed in.

How fucked is said LC?

The last time it was motd it failed on rusty sills, wheel bearing, cv boot and brakes binding. I've mostly ignored it since but have done the welding, the bearing and the boot. Just need to strip the calipers and clean them up then shove it in for an mot. That's if I can find the arsedness. The chassis is a bit flaky too.

I have wondered if export would be the easy way to offload it.

Export. I offloaded one (LandCruiser) to someone in Iceland (country, not shop) once. What a pleasurable experience* that was.

The yard has sold it to someone Alan (who took the photos) knows :)
