Howay, who among us wouldnt shit on somebody elses cat given half a chance?

I wouldn't necessarily restrict that to someone else's cat, particularly when you realise you've run out of bog paper after taking the world's largest crap and only having one of your cats to hand to attend to your back passage cleanliness.

PS Never happened.

Been reading on AROnline and if the reg is Y***OBL like the pic of a black One I posted upthread, then you have a press/dealer demonstrator car!

You also likely have a very low VIN/chassis number.

VIN is 318 and was built 3 weeks after Job 1. It was built as a dealer demo I believe but I want to verify the history of the registration number. According to the vehicle check records it used to wear a private plate, A6SVE but I don’t know for sure if the original plate was returned afterwards.

I don’t know if DVLA would divulge that information or not.

Definitely yes, just a PITA - as well as nearly sh*tting myself with the noise it made.

Did you duck? I did when it happened to me. The noise is terrifying.

Film could have been flipped!

In any case I think RHD examples exist.

It's an '89 Caprice.

And I bet the image was flipped for whatever aesthetic reason.

Didn’t duck but certainly cringed, knew what was coming and still jumped out of my skin.

AS bike's no good to me sadly, I want an auto and RELIABLE HONDA ENGINE, 'cause I like them.

I'll just bide my time and look around, signed up to rover200.org.uk as well to see what's what there.

I definitely think I want another 200, though.

My 530d estate which popped something in the rear suspension on the motorway near Eindhoven limped home about 200 miles without any more surprises. After blanking off the poorly side it raised itself on the good one, drivable if not great on those random bits of motorway covered in wagon skid marks. The nice lady copper at the ferry terminal let us continue after quizzing me why it was listing like a galleon in a storm.

The air bag bellows have come out from under the crimping ring under no particular load though i suspect the bag never really sat right in its turret. It was replaced about 5000 miles ago with £39 Ebay special, local factors think £130+ vat, a bit of a difference. Some homework needed here, the car is booked back on the ferry early in June for the Le Mans 24h.

Buy shite, buy twice.

Shall I take it to the bridge? Roffle it at £4.20 per ticket? Sell at £250.00?

Renault Clio (1997) 1.2, Manual, 5 Door. 78k, Cat C.

Thinking of scrapping it, but will put new exhaust and new MOT and tax to get you home if anybody wants it or will roffle.

The Good

Had the car 5 months and it's been a real champ. Handles and drives surprisingly well and is quite fun to drive. Tyres are OK and front disks have some life left. It always starts on the button and runs smoothly. My initial plan was to bung in fuel, oil and water and scrap when MOT runs out. The car ran well and I liked the drive. I decided to do some work on it so I would be happy to take it further afield on weekends.

Jobs Done

  • Water Pump

  • Tensioner Pulley

  • Timing Belt

  • Coolant Change

  • Rocker Cover Gasket

  • Throttle Body Clean, New Throttle Body O-ring and Inlet Manifold Gasket

  • Spark Plugs

  • Air Filter

  • Oil and Filter + Sump Plug

  • Fuel Filter

  • New Exhaust (If I MOT it)

Drove it 170 Mile round trip to meet up in Maidstone and it didn't miss a beat. Never let me down and the speedo has claimed 98mph on a quiet stretch of the A41!

The Bad

  • Bonnet sits wonky, might go on straight if fitted correctly, I don't know, never cared too much.

  • Drivers mirror is hanging on by the spring.

  • The clutch works with no judder or slipping, it's just either in or out.

  • Sunroof leaks but not too much.

  • Only front washer wiper works and the pump is activated by a push button (Column switch on the way out).

  • Door and lock mechanisms require lubrication.

  • Interior light/central locking unit needs cleaning with contact cleaner and new fuse to see if it will work.

  • Some wheel arch scabs but nothing underneath.

  • Chronic lacquer peel

  • Many dings and scratches

  • Bit of tappet noise from cold but goes after 30 sec.

  • Power steering has air in system. Does not affect operation at all, just sounds like a small Bee Gee is trapped under the bonnet.

I seem to have killed the thread! Maybe that's a sign? I think it's getting James Brown'd.

Pop it on its own thread, with a For Sale tag and a few pics mebbe?

Not so many of these Clios knocking about these days, and this one sounds like it's still got a bit of life left in it, after the graft you've put in...

Or roffle for much cheaps, as stated? There are plenty of chaps and chapettes here with exceedingly low self-control when the R-word is mentioned.

Roffle it! It’s an actual colour and has bags of charm!

Well... the Princess has stopped singing.  That's good.  What's less good is the Rover's keyfob has stopped talking to the car and the alarm/immobiliser now won't disarm.  OH WELL.

Cheers Datsuncog. I was getting the grump on that my Clio was generally unloved by anyone but me. The car looks like hell but will start, run nicely and get you where you want to go. If I didn't need a bigger car I would maintain the living shit out of it untill the day it craps it's self. It just attracts disdain where ever it goes, which I generally relish. It's just a travelling middle finger up the arse of conspicuous consumption.

Thanks Mr. Maximus. I've met you, in the real World! Your not grumpy at all, quite jovial and botany in fact!
