Arthur Foxhake Posted September 9, 2017 Posted September 9, 2017 Really gutted not to have come today. Wrist is loosening up a bit now but still worse than it has been for a long while. Possibly ever. Will still pop over for a bit tomorrow with my boy and bring this exhaust with me. chaseracer and Heidel_Kakao 2
richardmorris Posted September 9, 2017 Posted September 9, 2017 Not entirely successful day on the visa engine front. Ruffgeazer managed to get it apart eventually despite my ( and others) help. It didn't want to let the head come off without much fuss though and put up a fight on every bolt!Unfortunately pronounced deader than a dead dead thing. So 6cyl and gogently went off with a trailer to get another engine. It's a very odd design of engine really, placed almost horizontally in the car with the gearbox looking like it's in the sump, although it's not. The one problem with it Apart from the very stuck head bolts was that the liners had sunk and were perfectly level with the cylinder head. That and the fact it had run without water and overheated etc was deamed to be the killer. I made my excuses and left when they came back with a new one! Back home now with a pint of beer. It was nice to put faces to names and play with a car. And we had birthday cake too! Some may think it odd for a man to spend their 30th birthday cleaning a JCB in a field with an en-suite straight out of Deliverance. Luckily none of them are on this website! Unfortunately it was built by and for someone of six foot three which did mean a little acrobatics in the absence of a urinal- and the seat being screwed down! The Moog 1
