Oh YES!

I hope your mate turns up, David. The Yugo 45 is at the very top of my bucket list, and I'd love to lick & stroke admire it.

I'm sure it's a 45. Well, I'm not actually seeing as I'm making this comment. It's a Yugo of some variety.

Any more takers?

See you at 11am in the car park at the South Lakes motor museum!

I thought you were ripping the piss there John, as it's lashing down now, but it's true - looks grand for tomorrow!

Are we likely to have a bite to eat at the cafe before we set off on our drive in the afternoon?

Museum Cafe:

Or should we hunt out that hut in a layby where we met up last time?

I'm working on Mrs_KJ to come along and help navigate - these things are important to wimmin. The cab of an MX5 is a very small place if someone* has TEH ANGER.

I think we should grab a bite at the museum caff, Joe - the layby was quite a distance away & I definitely won't want to be navigating as I'll be on the bike!

(BTW I've found some more paperwork for the MX5... old MOTs & suchlike... I'll bring them along with me tomorrow. I did try to PM you but your mailbox is full again)

If you're dining at the Museum, bring plenty of money.  Nothing's cheap there!

Any idea of where the drive is going?

I fancy visiting this https://www.visitcumbria.com/kes/the-bowder-stone/ before heading home as I'm sure Lucky will enjoy the walk to & from it.

As for eating, would it be better to stop at a pub somewhere? no museum cafe is ever going to be cheap. The Boot Inn at the end of Hardknot is good, if not cheap. At least it was a few years ago when I went.

If no one has a better idea, hows this for a route? takes in all the main passes including the steepest (Hardknott, 1in3) & highest (Krikstone, via the Struggles) & finishes near the A66 so everyone can get back to the M6 & homewards.

No idea, hence asking.

I'd personally miss out the museum to Ambleside bit and join the a5092 at greenodd and go up to Duddon bridge then turn right at the traffic lights, then into eskdale, then the passes, then back around, it will save a couple of hours and you won't really miss anything, the scenery is nice in Bowness (I work there) but its even better up the west coast with a lot less tourist traffic and you really get a feel for the majesty of it all, a few pics from up that way

First one looks like Wast Water?

Who keeps dumping a bike in the way of the pics? ;)

It is, my favourite place in the lakes, AS meet at Wasdale Head? :D

I really don't think I can make it for the run out, I will try and get up for the first bit at the museum to say hello as I will probably be doing a dawn raid on the west coast on the bike if the weather picks up but will stop off on the way back.

I love it at Wast Water too, something magical about the place.

Hotel at the end does great food but bloody expensive for the state of the place.

Sorry Lads, I've been at my cousin's 50th do tonight.

I wanted to avoid the Windermere/Coniston/Ambleside area tomorrow, coz Sunday drivers. It's a sunny summer weekend, after all.

Also, we did the Hardknott/Wrynose pass area last time, we were lucky it was quiet, because it was only just clear of snow, and nobody knew. I know that those roads with ANY other traffic on will be anything but fun. Passing is NOT easy.

But, I want a good mix of scenery, with a good pass, hopefully avoiding the worst of the grottles.

SO

From the museum... map clicky:

That should get us away from the masses, to some pretty roads (Buttermere area is for winners), ending up in Keswick, from where we have a smooth run back to the motorway for a quick escape, or a gentle amble back down by the lakes, or something in between.

(I can't be too late back to The Dales; I need to be home for 7pm or so anyway, I have an airport run to do.)

Mrs_KJ has agreed to come and (try to) navigate. WCPGW?

Cheers Joe, looking at your route I'll drop off the pack around Grange then as I want to walk to the Bowder stone with Lucky.

Just sorting out a day pack for Lucky, odd how she needs to pack more than me. But then she is a girly girl...

I'm here, where are the rest of ya?

Got held up by bloody motorbikes on the way! If you want to get off and push it around bends then don't buy a sports bike and don't cut me up just to be in the way.
