Well the journey was all about this;

 

I've long fancied a Volvo and this one came along at the right price...

 

 

Although it managed the journey home non stop, I had back pain most of the way. I'm hoping it was more due to Saturday's activities rather than the Volvo 's seats.

These however are deader than Justin Lee Collins' career.

 

 

They have been dispatched to volvo diagnostic for repairs which in turn has knocked out most of the electrics.

 

Under the bonnet we have the warbly 5 pot of turbo diesel goodness, which requires either a fresh battery or an injector leak off test as it sometimes is slow to start.

 

 

It's hiding in the naughty corner of the drive until the clocks return, as one of the items that doesn't or is the indicators.

No it'll be the Volvo D5 2.4 in this. It was the earlier V70 that had the VAG 2.5 TDi

In a catastrophic week which saw the V70 in dry dock and Mrs Ruff's Berlingo Hdi written off, much hope was misplaced in a certain member of the myhermes delivery network.

 

Eventually after head office politely told them to get the 3 parcels they were holding delivered, my clocks got seen by the chaps at Volvodiagnostic.Com who turned them around within a day and had them back to me by 1pm on Saturday.

 

Outstanding service and knowledge from them, highly recommended.

 

It took about 10 minutes to get the clocks back in, next I need to scan and clear the various faults it has acquired whilst the clocks were out.

 

I also fixed the broken glove box hinges.

 

 

The hinges on the inner piece had broken off...

 

 

I got it sorted with parts from a spare glove box that came with the car and it's ready to take up daily duties...

 

Well after a short while pretending to b3 a hybrid that is...

I had a V70 T5 and loved it! Mine had the pale leather seats as well and apart from my Levi's making the driver seat a bit blue, was easy to keep the interior clean compared to a black interior.

Well bought! Love the colour too. Two V70 D5s bought in quick succession (the other being mine). We should start a D5 appreciation corner here on Autoshite. Mine is the 53 plate in red advertised here recently. Have you checked the vacuum system on yours? I've just ordered a vacuum tester from Amazon. I never did this on previous D5s we had, but regret it. It's a sensible thing to check though as vacuum controls brakes, PCV, engine mounts and turbo. I've got a loud chuffing out of the oil filler cap so there is probably a vacuum leak somewhere.

I haven't had a chance yet. I'm going to be swapping the wheels about and doing a leak off test on the injectors first as it can be a bit of a cunt to start sometimes.

My ex has a 55 plate 2.4d for sale at a bargainous £1200. Lots of mot and it had full history till we split. It has the winter pack. black leather,silver trim,heated seats etc. It'll have around 100k and I paid for a new clutch and slave around 4 years ago. It has a small ding on the offside rear bumper but the rest is fine. It has a tuning box on it and I did the 7 seat conversion. It also has a removeable tow bar. I can sort her number out if anyone is interested. Car is in NE22. Mind she is a fucking lunatic. Be warned guys, it's got nothing to do with me.

And sadly the tale ends here, an unfortunate series of events has caused a lot of front end damage to the Volvo, so it looks like 307k and out, unless I can find one to break for spares for mine.

Mine has also burst the rad so I'll need to strip it down and see what the intercooler and condenser look like. It as also bent the slam panel too.

 

Where abouts are you 95QP? What sort of shekel exchange would you require?

ight, I got stuck in...

 

The first thing is to strip off the bent stuff and see how far I need to go...

 

 

With the remains of the headlamp and the bent wing removed, it was obvious that the top of the slam panel was bent too, so that has had to come of as well...

I've had our 2006 v70 2.4d since it was 3 years old. It has always been slow to start and has never got any worse over 120k miles. It chuggs over the same whether hot or cold and has never failed to start. The clutch slave cylinder failed on ours and contaminated the plate at about 70k. This is a case of when it fails not if it fails. Hopefully yours has been replaced.

One of the reasons I decided to fix this o e was that it'd had a new clutch and flywheel fairly recently.

I had a bit of time on this over the weekend around while it was pissing it with rain.

 

Saturday saw us drop the straight bonnet back on the car, and have a good clean up of the broken glass and plastic that littered the under bonnet area.

 

 

I trial fitted the upper framework and found the support panel needed some straightening too, a bit of attention from the medium sized adjustment implement soon had it close to where it needed to be.

 

Today I decided to pull out the radiator and intercooler to assess the damage, this entailed stripping a lot of the front end off again as well as the passenger headlamp as I didn't want to disturb the aircon condenser.

 

 

With the radiator out, it is clear to see where the coolant went...

 

New radiator on order tomorrow I think.

Bumping this for an update later. I have done ALL TEH SHIT to this.

Late last year I burst a back shock towing our caravan, which kicked off a lot of other jobs that needed sorting.

Since it's layup, I serviced the car, replaced the rear shocks, front arm bushes and all of the engine mounts including both vacuum units.

She's had 4 new tyres bit still vibrates horribly.

I tested the vac mounts and they behaved, so next onto the injectors...

One of these is not the same...

So tonight, another job...

Slide hammer was barely needed, the injector came out fairly easily.

Finally, a tool to clean the injector seat...

 

Sadly she still vibrates horribly.
