Love that Metro

...but not as much as I would love that Classic. Ambassador blue? I nearly bust me zip looking at that

I remember lots of 2.0 GLSi autos in London in the early 90's . A lot of them had Cossie 4x4 bonnets with the vents, the Met used these as area response cars and 827s as Traffic cars. The SD1 of course managed both these rolls. I think they were replaced by 2.0 Vectra's and the Rovers by Omegas, now it's BMWs and Skoda.

That mk4 Scrote hatch looks like West Yorks panda spec, that Sherpa, phwoar, V8 auto, gallons to the mile, but would! It would make a nice camper conversion too

Great photos Trig thanks for sharing. That blue Metro is lovely. I would have impulse bought the shit out of that if I'd been there.

The Metro was a cutie but with 158000 miles and untaxed since 1994 it looked like a lot of work. Still, it did sell on the day so someone must thought it was worth the money.

Very interesting, thanks for sharing. I enjoyed those old police car pictures.

The crystal blue Sierra is lovely.

I LOVE the look of that Cortina (apart from the plates) - exactly how I remember car modifying where I lived, back in the late 80s. Do you have any more photos?

I've only got a couple more. It's a local car from new, the number plates look gash, even more so when he showed us the original tin plates in the boot.

Not sure what the story is with not being allowed to flog the range rovers; I've seen armoured vehicles advertised for sale on ebay before now, you need an end user certificate to export such things but it's certainly not against the law to own them.

Could they be over the maximum weight for the vehicle and need some specialist replating?

Security carriers/ bullion vans used to get broken rather than being sold on so people couldn't figure out the weak points or turn up in one after delaying the original.

Anybody who puts black plates on a Cortina Mk4 obviously doesn't remember the 70s!

The story he told us about the Range Rovers is that there's "secret" things which the government don't want people to find out about with them, so basically like DodgyRover says. There's probably weaknesses which they don't want want people to know about.

Blimey, I reckon I'd have ponied up for that Metro if I was visiting. Looks mega!
