Well... those are supposed to be about as OK as Chinese bikes get, and that one looks pretty tidy!

Bonus point for the full tank, £2.50 worth but still, a full tank

Bloody 'eck you've only gone n got summink that looks fit for use on the road.

Please - you didnt swap the Blade for that???

Posted

Christ, no! It's out of test, but should go through with an indicator and a mirror, if the latter is a requirement. I might even be able to sellotape the indicator up.

Posted

That is clearly less miserable than a lot of things you have purchased. Commiserations.

Posted

Ive got some cheapo generic indicators somewhere in the shed I can have a rummage for if you need.

Ta Marty, it might well be Sellotape-able yet though.

IIRC you don't need mirrors for the test, but if they are present they have to be not fucked up. So remove the broken one and you're good!

I've heard good (or at least non-bad) things about those Stealths.  They are a nice looking bike too, I'll give them that.

Mirrors aren't an MOT requirement - the Spacy passed without any.  I remember when I did my CBT the instructors told us right at the start "don't use the mirrors, bike mirrors are shit".

Ordinarily, I'd agree but I'd have had six less points on my licence if I'd had mirrors on my GT380 about 25 years ago, as I'd have seen the coppers coming after me and pissed off down the back lanes.

*Edit: the rope on the doors of the van was more to keep my 20 litre tub of diesel in the back than the motorbike.

Totally depends on the bike TBH.

I run a ST1100 for a bit & the mirrors were as good as a coach, you never needed to turn your head (I still did though).

Sellotaped the o/s/r indicator lens back on and refitted the rear foot peg and adjusted the rear brake a bit this morning. Engine sounds fine, are these the Suzuki GN125 clones?

Posted

I think they are with only the usual cheap component rust and electrical maladies eventually forcing them to die.

Lad at the jail looking for a 125cc so I'll point him in this direction unless you have a buyer lined up already.

No, still for sale.

The Civic went today, and have had a sniff on the Smart car.

Well, it's that time again.

First part of journey by van

Leave van 1.5 miles away, collect car. Wake up everyone within 58 mile radius.

Return on bike, collect van.

And just in case 'Rip Off Britain' are watching the lady had been quoted £800 to replace the (whole) exhaust...

EIGHT. HUNDRED. QUID. Obvs this alone wasn't enough and after having spent £200 on a tyre they played the 'insurance invalid if you drive away with the other one not being a run flat' card.

Will I get away with a new clamp 'twixt manifold and that flexi pipe type thing?

Posted

u just bort a mineh  m8?

Think the manifold might be borked, fairly common issue on these iirc. But nothing that can't be bodged.

So that's where El Chapo is now.post-17414-0-56161900-1489402974_thumb.jpeg

Don't think it's a clamp there, that looks like it should be crimped into the pipe?

Anyway I'd be taking to a creative type with a mig welder along with one of those universal flexi sections.

Ha! My 'library photo' trick didn't get past your eagle eyes, Len :(

*Edit: yep, they're the things, Dave. £120 new I think. Hopefully it won't come to that though as I would probably just sell it as is.
