Transit T280

Ok, it really is for sale this time!

The basics:

2002 T280 SWB Transit, metallic blue, 226k, one-piece rear door. Gearbox Occasionally pops out of 1st/3rd if not held in, may well be a cable adjustment issue. Rear door a bit tatty. MoT until April 2017, needs a small patch welding at the end of the sill where it meets the arch on the Nearside, and a patch under the driver's side step. Had a new o/s driveshaft and wheel bearing a couple of months ago. Two nearly new tyres on the front, rears good. Small crack in lower windscreen, not an MoT fail.

Better pics to follow.

SOLD

Available from 2nd of April (it's being used for a mate to move house the day before).

Located in Devon, can deliver for cost of fuel.

Cheers

That Mondeo is a proper bargain. If you can get a few thousand miles out of it in those six months at 45mpg you'll be lel'ing.

Posted

47mpg if mines to be believed. That's in sub zero starts for work.

The jumping out of gear is common on the Transits when they get some serious miles on them. I drove a 280,000 mile one last year and it did it. It was still putting on 20,000 a year, you just lived with it.

Posted

Yep, 45mpg was what I got out of the two TDCi's I had. 60+ mpg is achievable on a long run (70mph, cruise control on).

That was a then eight year old 130 TDCi with 138k or so on the clock...

Nice!

My 140 TDCi  mk4 is averaging 59mpg at present, after a run to Crewe and back. 7ish years old and 180k.

My previous 130 TDCi used to also return amazing MPG @ circa 145k, and I'm not one for sitting behind HGV's etc in the slow lane.

My mistake was doing sub 10 mile each way commutes in it for 18 months...It got clogged and the turbo grenaded.

Sold it for 700 quid with fault. I loved that car.

Billy Cavcraft to the beige courtesy phone please!

Hmm. Tempting if I can find something to part-exchange, just the distance really.

Why don't you ask if he'll knock some money off to cover your travel?

Fancy taking a clio in a part ex against the transit?

It's not a Clio II facelift is it? If so, I may be interested in it if it's reasonably priced!

Posted

Sounds like a three way deal might be in the offing! Quite happy to look into it, drop me a PM with what you think the Clio is worth.

Both still for sale, pictures of the Mondeo added. Massive price drop from £550 to £350 on the Mond as I need it gone very quick.

Looks a bargain at £350 that Mondeo. Easy worth double that.

It's probably worth more than what you are asking in parts.

With the minor bits done I'd agree. I just don't have the time or inclination to do it, plus I'm happy bimbling around in the Xantia.

What's the old truck in the background? looks right proper & a little voice in my head is saying Scamell?

Can't remember off the top of my head, I'll find out tomorrow.

Fraid not, I'm trying not to expand the commercial vehicle section anymore!

Just had a local come and view the Mond, he offered £350 (it's up for £450 to non-AS'ers), I accepted and he then said 'OK I'll think about it...."

FFS.

Of course, last night there was this tempting* offer:

You've spelt 'JOG ON' slightly differently to how some of would have.

I was trying to be civil. I did actually type the words 'fuck off you cunt' before deciding not to mock the afflicted.

What do people want for £350? Seriously. A running working car with test on for equivalent of the monthly rent on its new equivalent.

The trouble is at £350 bizarrely people seem to expect more than if they were paying £750. I don't know why...

I'd have the Mondeo but I'm in the Lakes and not travelling to bloody Devon :)
