Dug this out of hibernation today. Over 200 queenheads for 6 months tax is a bit steep, but it was good to get out in it again.

Only a couple of years to exemption?

This thread remains a favourite and the only thing now is you need to do a mk3 to complete the set ;) !

Did about a hundred miles in this today.

About 20% of its average annual mileage. 🤔

Got a bit of time to work on my own crap today. The diff seals have been leaking for a while, and it was about time this was rectified. I didn't want to damage any paint, or split any ball joints, as it still looks very decent underneath, so it was going to be a little awkward at best.

The bottom ball joints were unbolted, and the drive shafts were wiggled free with the aid of cloths around them to keep the paint nice.

The divers side seal was removed relatively easily, as there was plenty of room around it for access.

The passenger side one wasn't so easily ousted - there isn't a lot of room to play with. Perseverance, a hammer and screwdriver, as well as a modified pry bar saw it flop out eventually with no harm done.

Managed to finish this off this evening. There was no way I could tap the new seal in as there wasn't room for a hammer in the space available, so the subframe/wishbone combo was removed.

A bit more access now.

New seal banged in and back together again.

Gearbox oil was topped up, and appears to be staying where its supposed to. Hopefully that means no more oil spots on the garage floor. 🤔
