Berlingo XUD9TE project (Y THO?)

I don't have a car with a rev counter and if I found one sprouting out of the top of the dashboard like they seem to these days I'd knock the little shagger off and put a clock there instead.

I'd fit a massive ammeter, or servo vacuum gauge or some such crap. Battery temperature.

Rip the lot out and fit £8k worth of Stack panel with telemetry

Eat my dust Morris Marina diesel!

I could race you in my Dolomite 1300 and maybe win...

Home at last. What a time to find out I left my house keys in the Caddy. At my mum's. 50 miles away.

Bad luck Lacquer. Did you manage to get that window closed for your journey home?

Yeah, that sucks. I think we've all done something like that, so we can feel your pain, (ooer!), that doesn't make it any less miserable though.

I once drove 240 miles to gatwick ready for a Florida holiday only to realise at the hotel I'd left my wallet in the house.

Luckily the fuel efficiency* of my Subaru Impreza meant driving to meet my poor old mother halfway** would be no problem on the 1/4 of a tank and zero funds I had.

In the end theft of a sneaky £25 the boy had been given to go by his so so generous *** grandmother saw me make it to Leigh Delamare services for 9 through m25/m4 traffic and collect said wallet.

Good thing about the Impreza was it didn't take long to get back when it was traffic free.

Unpleasant overall though unlike the holiday.

Nah but I was 'smoking like a fireman' all the way up the road so it became a useful convenience feature.

It's not without its problems but seems like a decent van. It has convinced me again that Peugeot/Citroen in the 90s were CHASSIS MASTERS, I can't believe they created a small van that rides so well, much better than a lot of cars. An HDi one would be fucking ace.

Would like to fix the hammering engine, I'm convinced it's not something serious. Could be a problem with the needle lift sensor on one of the injectors, or a timing issue, moar serious.

That post confuses me. I used to have to drive a pair of peugeot prantners (same van isnt it?) and everything about them was shit, their only redeeming feature was they weren't C15s.

Sounds alright that LP. Hope it serves you well.

I really liked all the various versions of these I drove. As an added bonus, they can house (literally) a 6'5" idiot laid down diagonally in the back.

As a 6'3" idiot who's lived out of the back of a 405 estate before that's good to hear.

I like these too. I shifted an HDi one a few hundred miles for someone at it was a super wee steer.

I like it.

Could be why you own one & I don't :)

Add per the thread title I am baffled, what have you bought?

A dreadful small French van.

Ace, I had one of these before my Hiace. Comfortable, economical, sweet handling, easy to work on, rust free. Assuming it was cheap, well bought!

£300, which was probably a bit too much really.

Don't think so really, small vans seem to hold their value well.

I currently have a Breeder edition HDi one but previously had a fully banjaxed 224k mile 1.8xud van version, it sold for £450 not long after I scraped it through its last ever MOT.

Welcome to AS Berlingo club, think it's just you, me and Chaseracer so far.

Its maybe a bit "stance YO" etc for this forum, but these look very nice on Saxo VTS alloys.

It looks like it has either new or very well painted original steelies under the erroneous Peugeot hubcaps.

It started first time this morning, with some chugging. There isn't much veg in it but the DW8 fuel filter housing looks even more dubious than the XUD one and it's fed by nasty hard plastic pipes.

Tightening the slack accelerator cable may release some more DW8 POWAH.

Posted

I only have one experience of the DW8 but it just seemed like an XUD with a really craply calibrated fuel pump. Is a good one as good as a decent XUD?

Posted

I don't think so, it's not so much the pump but all the emissions shit that strangles it.
