Very broken Rover 75

Unfortunately my 75 has not survived it's trip into floodwater.  I've removed the plugs, released many litres of water from the air intake, but the engine is locked solid - I'm guessing bent rods.

Please let me know if you'd like to acquire this - it's free to a shitter, as long as you remove it.  It's in Oakley, Hampshire.

Pros:

Connoisseur V6 auto

12 months MOT!

4x new tyres

New rear suspension arms last year

Celebrity owned - Purplebargeken and (very briefly and virtually), Cavcraft.

Professionally installed Autoshite sticker

Lovely interior - with the exception of the heated seats, everything works

Cons:

Busted

Bodywork is scuffed, dented, giffer repaired, and this is on top of the dreadful doom blue colour.

I'd get your £70 of scrap mate. Having your car written off is bad enough without giving away the soggy remains for nowt!

Few bits that might earn you a few bob first...

That steering wheel is worth the best part of £200...

The leather seats will get you another £150 (if you advertise a U-Pull-It basis on the owners' forum someone will oblige).

Same goes for hi-line nav.

Easy bit of money before sending the shell off...

Yeah, what he said - but what's so special about the steering wheel? Seen quite a few like that tbh!

It's an early real wood and sandstone wheel. If it's in as good condition as it looks it'll be worth £££

The later ones aren't worth so much as the 'wood' isn't up to much, and the plastic imitation Oak ones are not worth much at all.

There are no nice walnut + sandstone wheels on eBay at present.

Oh right, thanks for clearing that one up for me!

No worries!

I know it seems daft, but if someone will pay and it's 2 mins to remove out, why not?

As has been pointed out, theres good money in that scrap.  Get it posted on the 75 forum.  Just don't fall foul of the rules.....

Pay the £10 (it won't let you post without it) and you'll have people queuing to get bits off it. (Me included if you're anywhere near aylesbury)

It interests me too and I am only Buckingham, maybe we can recover it together?

I would love to say yes... however I have zero spare time at the moment. Gah so close, yet so far.

I'm always scanning for cheap black-sills petrol 75's with an interesting spec, but trucking this 200 miles or whatever puts me OOOT sadly

I am 75 miles but I do have a Tow car!

How much does a 75 V6 weigh, I have a friend with a trailer but it is only rated at 1100 KG?

Edit - 1570 kg I guess this is a hire trailer job.

Use an A Frame.

They are flippin heavy, I used a Transit to A-frame mine. Defo a fair chunk more than 1100kg!!

Absolutely - in my life the stumbling block has always been finding somebody to show even a glimmer of interest in anything I try to sell!!

Kerb Weight 2545kg

Braked Towing Weight 3500kg

I can also relate to this!

Oh fuck, an early Connoisseur V6 with sat nav and a personal line interior. That is my ideal spec 75. It's even in my favourite colour.

Sorry about it getting flooded out; hopefully it can live on or, if not, provide some useful spares for others.

Posted

Oh damn, what a shame!  I hope the parts it yields will help some other 75s live on...

Same hydrobollocking happened last year to a family member who owned a similar 75 in the same colour. Are these things particularly vulnerable in flood water ? (406 V6s are. Fortunately not speaking from experience).

It wasn't very deep water - other cars were wading through it.  However, it appears the 75 air intake includes a 'shannon tube' which tends to rot away, effectively making the intake much lower than intended.  I read about this *after* killing it.

This.

Has killed many a 75.

A cone filter would have saved this car. Thats a very odd thing to be saying.

My last one did have a cone filter but my current one does not, I think I will be checking my tube.
