Halfords 200pc tool kit- £135

Think its an early black friday deal, but cheapest I've seen it for a long time.

From memory normally hovers around the £175 > £200 figure.

Seriously considering buying a second set to keep in the car.

Thought it might be of use to someone.

Cheers

I've got this set and it's excellent.

Top tip - with the savings, buy a 7mm Allen socket and TX25 socket - two unforgivable omissions, given the 7mm is common for brake calipers.

I've got a few sets very similar. Don't think it's ever been £350 though.

They are good quality, mostly guaranteed for life, go a bit rusty when wet but it wipes off.

They tend to have something similar at Xmas for around £100. I'm dubious of Black Friday, its a gimmick.......

Xmas is real.

That is a good price, It's £150 with a trade card! I've got the 120 piece set which is perfect, That's £100 or £80 with a trade card at the moment.

That's a good sign. Quality Chrome Vandlium isn't supposed to be rust proof.

Seem to rust easier than the two snap on spanners I own that cost about the same.

Which reminds me. Now that my snap-off torque wrench, I need a new one. I wonder if they'll have any decent deals on their own brand ones on Friday.

I have the 170 piece set and it's terrific. Bought it when there was a deal on (there is most of the time) but it wasn't quite as bargainistic as that.

I'm still on the mk1 version of the 150pc Professional set, albeit on it's third box and now I need another.

Handy set. I bought one couple months back for £124 on trade to do jobs away from workshop.

I bought the 120 piece one a couple of years ago for about £90 ( British cycling discount on top of decent sale) and it's great.

The chrome coating over the top is though...

Save some money and buy a 90 or 120 piece when they're on offer, under 100 quid. The bigger sets are just bolstered up with tat.

No, they're not, for the sake of a few quid more, you do get a bit more. Sizing gaps between deep reach sockets disappear and you get more spanners.

I've the guts of that kit and more from various Halfords deals. It's top notch and id be upset if it got pinched. Survived almost 10 years of my cack handed attempts at mechanical work. Broke two allen sockets and a 19mm socket being a dick yet they replaced them without asking

The older sets are far superior. More spanners, more sockets and barely any shit little square drive bits.

My first kit was £99 and is a 1/2 drive socket set. I think it's best buying it in modules that way I.e. Just a set of sockets, then just a set of spanners etc cos the WOW LOOK AT ALL THE DIFFERENT TOOLS YOU GET!!!!! kits are generally missing stuff you'll need

Replaced the Argos special 3/4 kit which was beyond wank

What fecks me off are the 12 sided sockets.

That's a deal breaker for me as well :?

What would be a good make to look at if you wanted similar quality and value to the Halfords kits but without the downsides of 12 sided sockets and too much filler?

Id just buy the 200pc set at the offer price and pick up a set of decent 6 sided sockets if you're that concerned.

There is a set of 6 sided metric impact sockets in the set albeit not for every size.
