That alone will improve the mpg by at least 1%.

Acquired today. Need to learn. Issues with drivers door pin on the b pillar. Looks like it's corroded around it and been done repaired before. Any tips on relearning to weld? Practiced on a piece of scrap and had a lot of spatter.

You're going to get loads of spatter 'cos its a No Gas welder

This means the wire has a coating on it,which burns off whilst welding and attempts to give the same gas shield that a normal mig does with its bottled gas

Ahhhh OK. I've gone for gasless due to working outdoors and apparently gasless is better over arc. Practice practice practice I think

Watch the beginners vids on YouTube. It's not rocket science but is a bit of an art. You want to aim for a sound like sizzling bacon. Mess about with the power and feed settings until you get a decent penetration (look for discouraging on the back and obvious signs of the weld coming through) but don't let it burn holes. you will be doing thin metal so don't worry about continuous welds a mile long as you will be doing a short length then moving around to avoid heat build up, then stitching then together. Get lots of bits of scrap and practice and then practice some more. I have only used a gasless for a few repairs at my mates who has one but he has done loads with it and while the welds aren't pretty they are fine once ground back.

Its definitely better than an arc welder but there will always more spatter with these....

Make sure you have nice clean metal to work with, even if it means cutting back a bit more metal

Get the earth fairly close to where you're welding and as Tam says practice with good size tack welds rather than a long run....

Three seven to four five. Sherpa antics alert. Cowley won't be amused.

And do it somewhere well ventilated as the flux in the gasless wire is "distinctive" and not good for you in large amounts/confined spaces IIRC.

After the monumental rainstorm we had its highlighted a paddling pool in the drivers footwell. God bless the drain plugs fitted. Anyhow I think it's coming from the side near the speaker so out with the talcum powder.

New boots fitted today. Well three, the best one of the old bunch will have to wait a short while. Oil change tomorrow after I've shitely Eddie Honda pannier boxes. Hopefully get the tracking done on Friday.

Treated the old girl to fluid and filter change today. The air filter was definitely past best. Inlet clogged up with shit too. Egr removal or blanking next.

Name that noise! During the massive rain storm the other day I noticed a humming noise on the bypass. I put it down to road noise as I was on a nearly laid piece of road and the noise came on out the blue then went. I had tyres changed other day but today the noise is back. It's like a humming/vibration noise over 40 mph. It only does it when cruising at a steady speed. Goes away when braking or accelerating and doesn't do it all the time. I've had the van up and there is no rough wheelbearing or play that I can see. Any advice appreciated.

Cv joint rubbers intact so can't see them being dry but it is a possibility. Am unsure how to check gearbox level but I'll look into it. Thanks for ideas

Could a suspension top mount make a noise like that? I noticed a loud creaking from the front suspension this evening as I turned onto my driveway

Today hasn't gone too well. The door bolt/bar in the b pillar what holds door shut has gave up. Literally fell out as I opened the door at work. Had to park van round the back and up against a wall and climb out passenger door to stop it from opening too wide. Looks like I will have to do some welding after work tonight. Seems to be a common issue though.

Bit of a blow over with rattle can and all seems OK. Bloody cold out tonight though

A c15 has appeared on a local facebook selling page for £100 ono. I'm thinking about buying it and breaking it for spares if you're after anything in particular?

I would be after a passenger sun visor, passenger side rear bumper cover and possibly something that I've forgot!

Posted

Oh heck. It's had a oil change, door pin repaired, new tyres and now it's booked in for a cambelt and water pump on Friday. Mileage clocking up but not much by my standards. Currently at approximately 73.5k.

Posted

The seller of the £100 C15 has informed me that it also come with some spares including two rear doors, bonnet, 2 steel wheels, twin fan motor, boot liner, door mirrors and air filter boxes and various other bits. The van has a towbar fitted and a roof rack though I may keep the rack for my own van. It's 73 miles away so will cost me another £100 to get down the road but I'll not be after much for any of the spares I sell.

I'd be interested if you get rid of roof rack as I'm getting desperate! Rear liner is also of interest too.
