So, I went out in the van...

I'd have a bash at that at the right price, not sure how I'd get it home mind.

Once upon a British Rail, you could lob bikes in the goods van for buttons; it would take you 3 days to get anywhere and you'd have to go via Crewe regardless of the points of departure or destination but it worked. It would almost be worth having to eat BR sandwiches to get it back.

I had a Vespa years ago, girl sold it to me because she fell off.

Didn't tell me the fall bent the kick start shaft. Second time I kicked it the shaft broke, had to push start it for the next 6 months.

It also had a nasty habit of the castle nut coming undone which held the back wheel on.

Took it for a test today, dipped on a bulb, front brake inadequate, front shock, both tyres and something something something. Waiting for a quote from them to fix, will be tomorrow before they let me know how much.

When I was 18, I bought a small-frame PK50 with a 100cc engine fitted.  A49PVF was the reg - I remember that as it was my first number plate (all the mopeds I'd owned before that had been in France and thus unregistered).  I pushed it home from the seller's house 4 miles away as I didn't have any other form of transport - although about a mile and a half from home some bloke in an LDV Convoy took pity on me and gave me and the bike a lift home.  I had it running once, for about 15 seconds - could never get it going again after that.  I gave up on it and bought a Yamaha RS100.  Eventually it got nicked, I didn't bother to report it.  That is the extent of my experience with Vespas.

I'd like to try riding one once, just for the experience, but I think the Spacy is about as far as I want to go down the old scooter route.

I had a PK50 when I was 16 - it was properly dickhead proof! I abused it for a whole year (17000 miles) then sold it on for what I paid for it. A few PXs have passed through my hands since, reliability has never been an issue. :)

Haha, and guess where George is right now?

Off looking at his mate's Insignia which doesn't have 1st, 3rd or 5th gear any more.

Welcome newish member, looks like you will fit right in here. We all know you could have spent money to fix it, but a push is cheaper  :-D

Turns out there was nothing wrong with Insignia, the owner is  just daft. As you would be.

Anyhow, 12 months MOT achieved, insurance sorted for the morrer, just about to tax.

Only a couple of outings in the last month but a good point made. I remember last year being without a car for work for a month during the worst rain I had ever ridden in but do believe it makes you safer having cold wet nuts.

All Vauxhalls are, etc.

In my great rush to get the Vespa on the road I've since achieved about 12 miles on it, all of which were done on the first day.
