Not shite or in any way interesting, but if anybody wants a reliable modern, this car is now surplus to my requirements as my parents have generously donated to me their cast off Volvo, now that they have bought a new one!

54 reg Mondeo 2.0 Zetec resplendent in Ink Blue metallic.

86k miles

MOT until 2nd November 2017

Had a full service 28th May 2016, also new rear brake pads, discs and calipers.

Parking sensors

A/C nice and cold, heated front screen works, in fact everything works.

Drives as it should, totally reliable, a few little dings and scrapes which I will detail below.

Factory fitted optional extra 17" alloys (bling!)

4 good tyres that have only done 5,000 miles (Goodyear front, Avon back)

post-20295-0-85057600-1476026915_thumb.jpg

Included:

Full V5C registration document

Locking wheel nut key (new, because the old one was rounded off, which I found out when I had a puncture at 1am!)

Owners manual

Radio code and locking wheel nut code

HBOL

Paint touch up pen

Two advisories on the last MOT:

1. Chip less than 10mm in windscreen zone A - this has been an advisory on the last 5 MOTs, so it's unlikely to suddenly get worse!

As seen from the driving seat:

Close up with a 20p coin for scale:

2. Front registration plate deteriorated but not likely to be misread:

I'm thinking of listing it on Gumtree for £850, but would any shiter be interested at £750 ?

The heart of the beast:

Small dent in front offside wing:

Fortunately for OCD types, this is matched by one on the front nearside wing:

The scabbiest part of the paintwork (partly my efforts to undo bird poo damage):

Some scuffs on the alloys, these two are the worst:

(I do have the missing centre cap)

The car is located in Horley, Surrey (near Gatwick airport).  Delivery to East Surrey / South London / North Sussex may be possible.

I have the same in Silver. Surprised how good on fuel it is. Goes nicely as well when you hit the loud pedal. 2.0 so no oil control ring related trouble.

Posted

No plastic butterfly valve trouble on these later ones, either.

That's a hell of a car for the money imho. These are well put together and drive nicely. As noted, the 2.0 is very much the engine to have. If I needed a bigger car etc etc...

GLWTS.

Is this the Duratorq 2.0 engine as in the mk2 focus?

Duratec engine in this one. I forgot to mention in the ad that it's petrol!

Duratorq are diesel.

I don't want it, there's 20p stuck in the tyre.

Beats the handbrake.

I promise to remove the coin from the tyre before anyone buys it!

Crikey, that's a properly detailed an ad for a 12 year old sub £1000 car.

This is the way to sell a car. I always think it costs nowt but a little time to give people the full facts.

I used to have a TDCi Ghia X. Cracking cars.

Beats the handbrake.

Handbrake works perfectly now I've spent a load of money on rear pads, discs and calipers!

Posted

You can tell when these start to go, handle feels loose at bottom of travel. Sometimes you can prevent it with occasional winding in and out on the calipers.

Posted

Due to the fact it is a 2 litre pez I think it is both shite and interesting.

Posted

Questions that somebody asked me via messenger reminded me that I didn't say a couple of things about the car:

It has 2 keys, both remote (central locking all works)

Service history from new until 2010, then none until this year because the last owner did his own servicing (so he said - the oil looked very clean when I bought it, so I can believe it)

Not been smoked in - interior is pretty clean, not concours!

Good cars these, had one as a commuter car for a few months. Easily get 35-40 mpg from the 2.0 Duratec Petrol, one of the cheapest cars I've had to run as they are dead reliable.

Posted

Christ, that looks like the most sensible car ever. I'm out.

Posted

That there is the consummate family transport solution.

A newer, more aspirational car than this is merely newer and more aspirational, not better.

Best of luck with the sale.

Now sold (via Gumtree!) for £720.
