Hi people.

In the NORTHERN POWERHOUSE thread a few people have suggested that Glossop isn't the most convenient place for everyone and we should meet somewhere else or something.

The 6 or so of us that go there regularly are likely to keep doing so, so I am offering EXCLUSIVE Northern Powerhouse franchises for other meets in/around the M62 corridor.

Basically, vote using the above there boxes as to which of the suggested locations you might turn up to, or if you know anywhere else good to meet please suggest and I will add it, if there is sufficient interest for an idea or location we can start organizing.

Nowhere is the most convenient place for everyone and that's why it should remain in Glossop.

I'm not suggesting to change glossop, this is for somewhere else as well maybe.

Oh, okay.

Well, I guess everyone can meet himself wherever it's most convenient for him, but we meet in Glossop, first Tuesday of the Month.

I'm sure Glossops lovely and all but it is a bit of a way away from civilisation. I'd be keen on something North Manc / Lancs / West Yorkshire.

Seeing as I now don't own a 405, further than Glossop isn't of too much interest for the moment.

Yeah, since North Manc in particular is the epicentre of civilisation.

Bacup?  Nelson?  Rawtenstall?  Hell, ROCHDALE!!  What's not to like*?

My dad was born in Prestwich...

Yeah, since Burnley is the epicentre of culture and civilisation.

FTFY ;)

It's not his fault, he didn't have a say in it.

Burnley would be attended.

There are many excellent independent pubs serving fine ale and good home-cooked food all at a reasonable price. There is the White House on Blackstone Edge which I will put forward - ample parking, good reasonably priced food, interesting country roads over the tops to put the cars through their paces &c &c.

Thanks God I bought a Range Rover. None of my other cars would ever make it there.

Looks like a good enough place to call the RAC from, mind.

There's a number of us up in the Middlesbrough/Stockton area so we should probably get our arses in gear and set up a franchise locally I suppose.  Not it for organising it, had my fill of that trying to keep the RR Meadowhall meet under control.

I did, and they did.  April 2013, as a one-off, but if there's interest I'm happy to set up the same meet again.  That's at the Chill'n'Grill cafe, Ulverston; easy to get at on the A5087 Coast Road.  Not open in winter though.

Rochdale, Blackstone edge... give me a bit of a challenge.

Have it at the Summit Pub Littleborough, just having an extension built for dining. I can walk there.

Think I'll do Glossop now my vehicle has 12 months MOT.

It would be nice if the inside bit of the meet were dog friendly, I don't mind driving out of my area either.  I'd be up for a Saturday morning meet as that's the only day off I'm getting at the moment.

So you are saying you'd prefer to drive 26 miles rather than 3 miles?

We're on this forum because we like driving/cars, aren't we?

Yes if I'm going to a car meet in a car that might, or might not make it. It's nice round Glossop.

No if I'm going to work!

I can cover 26 miles in the Cadillac for little more than the cost of going 3, especially if there's some good dual carriageway/motorway involved.  On the short trips (like my commute to work) the engine doesn't really get up to temp, but get it out on the open road and cruise at 65-ish and it almost sips.  That distance would get me to Kendal or so, which might be accessible for Lancashire Shiters.
