BL Autumn Rally - Sunday 25th September

This doesn't seem too well publicised, so here's a quick mention for anyone who fancies a day surrounded by shoddily assembled British class and staunchly defensive owners. Very unlikely that my allegro will be on the road as it needs a few jobs for the MOT (ALL 70's cars do FFS1!!!), so I'll likely waft up in the 75.

Looks well worth a gander.....Unfortunately I shall be in Blackpool.

Plan is to be there (possibly only briefly depending on the baby) in the yellow Allegro estate.

I'm a maybe for this. Would be good to take the Metro to a show before the weather turns to shit.

I like my BL heroes to be unsung and my on site tea rooms to be surperb so this seems like an ideal day out. Might try to get up to it.

I reckon there’ll be plenty of ‘mentals talking tosh’ here, could be worth a look

I'll be at the British Motor Museum instead, for its own Autumn Classic. Maybe I should expect less BL stuff to turn up then!

Incidentally, all being well, that'll be the first official outing for the S-MX.

As this is about 3 miles from home I may take a BMW along, just for the LOLs, my 520 is a 93 so I might get a

" 100% English Patient free " sticker made .

Is it possible to say Tea Room without visualising a Maxi or Metro ?

I was going to a BMW 7 series event in Great Yarmouth but BL 9 miles from home sounds interesting.

Not fair all the good BL stuff is miles away. Really want to get to one in 2017, whats the nearest one to Scotland?

I don't have a hard core BL car such as a Marina, so which of my cars say BL the most?

1970 Triumph Vitesse

1976 Daimler Sovereign

1998 Rover 114 SLi

2002 Rover 75 Touring

Are Rovers classed as BL & does this stand for Bloody Lucky the thing is still running or has got one home

Just down the road from us so we're planning to take the Maxi

This isn't on today. It's tomorrow, as hinted at by the Sunday 25th September on the poster.

You're welcome.

Edited to add: I even went in a sort of Rover. Well if a Ford platform and PSA engine assembled by Scousers counts. Will try again tomorrow.

Anybody going to this from the South , be aware the M1 is shut for bridge demolition between J11 and 12. The diversions will be very busy, so best avoid the M1 north of M25.

I've just come back from Gatwick using A41 as far as Tring then cut across towards Leighton Buzzard and Bletchley , this will bring you onto the A5 dual carriageway 4 exits down from MK Museum at Wolverton.

That explains why there was a Montego parked in my street last night

I made it as far as my mates house before the radiator shat itself so i had to dump the Rover there and I'm now in convey with him in his white Marina and with Cortinaboy with his blue Marina.

I only made it to Cambridge mind you before the fanbelt started to get noisey!

Also at the show now. Got some great photos of some wonderful machines! The weird rain/sun lighting has helped the photo quality*.

In cafe now. Lemon cake nom nom.

A shameful display of greed and gluttonous behaviour by the Maxis left little room for others and spoilt the day!

OK hold on I was only joking but a fine display of 11 maxis was good to see.

We were visiting as it's only 20 mins down the A508. We were in SnrYoof's XF.

I preferred the 5.3 V12 coupe tbh. :D

A XJ-C was always on the 'Lottery Wishlist' for me, but today I think I'm over them.

SixCylinder's saloon is far more elegant and classy looking, although those hideous Federal bumpers weren't doing that blue one any favours- it arrived as I was leaving , did anyone speak to the owner ? It was RHD and didn't seem to have marker lights, what's the story there, I wonder?

But in general, I've decided I'd rather have a saloon .

I've never seen so many Maxis in one place , cant help feeling BL should have made more of an effort with trim levels and appearance differences. They all look the same! No wonder Cortinas and Marinas did better in company fleets.

That orange Allegro with the Quatric wheel and SS trims looked like a right barg. Going by the prices ones on the Tat thread are up for, there's a nice drink in that one for somebody, assuming anyone pays that much.

You mean I have made another Autoshite sub standard purchase!

In this shot you can not see how bad the roof is on mine.
