Amazon car parts, cheapo el cheapo

BEWARE BEWARE. Buy carefully. The radiator which was described as fitting my Megane was too wide.

I have concluded that there are about 39 different kinds of radiator for the Renault Megane MK1 so if that's the case with your car, just be careful. Some descriptions are non existent too which obvs makes things a bit more roulette-esque.

It's a mk1 Megane, just make the bloody hole bigger  :-D

Yep, beware. Descriptions are often poor, you need to know inside out the specs of what the existing parts are and carefully cross-reference the scant details Amazon gives to be sure you're ordering the correct bit.

Ordered some stuff for the XM I havent collected yet, and none of the parts I've bought need replaced anyway.....but at those prices???

I Googled the radiator part number and it shows as compatible on another site too....

Did you go for those calipers I highlighted, too?

Fiesta water pump I bought is for a 2005-on rather than the 2004 car I have.  Has an additional bit of casting that won't fit my engine

Anyone able to make use of it give me a shout

10 X spark plugs for focus for £3. Postage on top though...

Unless you've got a 5 cylinder ST, what good are 10 Focus spark plugs?

is there any way to filter on 'only 1 left in stock' as they appear to often be the biggest bargains?

Posted

I've tried this a few times now using the reg no for my Peugeot. Each time I get thousands of results for parts, and other items, relating to many different cars. What am i doing wrong?

need to use the filter for "car parts"  down the left side , then enter your rego and press filter , then select cheapest

then sit and punch in all the stuff you might like such as spark plugs , clutch and so on ....seems to have dried up for polo and focus parts , got some right bargains about a month ago , so if you see something grab it and if you dont try again as it changes daily by the looks of it

Partly - if you filter on 'Eligible for Prime delivery' that will identify Amazon-fulfilled orders, which includes the single-stocked items.

Thanks, will give it another try later.

Well, i have no idea if I'll need them, but a Nissens radiator for a W124 (manual though) and a Valeo radiator for an SLK (says automatic or manual!) for £30 seems worth the time clicking...

Posted

If anyone hasn't tried this, I would definitely have a go. Just got some proper bwargs for the Alfa:

K&N Air Filter for £32 (should be over £100)

Aircon condensor for £14 (should be £130) - don't need one but come on

Oil filter for £2.34

Reverse light sensor for £9 (usually about £25 and I actually need one)

Magnetti Marelli lambda sensor for £9 (usually about £60)

£66 all in all

Followed the advice above and filtered for prime delivery and just had to browse through each category. Each one was listed as having 1 or 2 left.

:-P :-P :-P :-P :-P

Wow.

Just got the Twingo a new radiator, new radiator fan, and two of the engine mounts.

£33.

(I mean, it doesn't need any of these things to sit in a corner of the garage gathering dust, but I figure if I want a Mercedes estate, I'd better fix it given the last one I saw up for sale has more miles and is a grand. And has rust. And no glass pano top).

Perhaps we should browse Amazon car parts and buy our cars accordingly? Late 90s/early 00s PSA, Renault and Fiat cars may see rise in value!

Everything arrived :-P

9 seperate parcels, each sent by DHL from the UK to Germany. Total shipping costs was £9.97, go figure...

I got two rear and one front brake calipers for the 405 for £24.77 all in.

Even if I have to buy the remaining caliper at regular cost, I saved more than 200 quid.

How are people finding things when I checked almost everything it said fitted was for a different model! Are you searching by manufacturers part numbers?

Posted

I dunno what to do either. I'm after a PT cruiser Alternator and I'm turning up full price stuff!

Log into Amazon, select the the "car & motorbike" section and start a search without a search term.

You will end up here:

Enter your car details and add your car to the "garage".

You can now filter search results by car.

Stiil, double check the items you find, lots are in the wrong section or incorrectly described.

I ussually google the manufacturer part number to counter check the part fit.

They also have a lot of really strange product details.

Look at this:

Hss Tin Drill Bit??? No, its TRW 504 shocks, which by the way were priced at £8.85 last week, now they are £98.91.

Keep checking, there was only full or even overpriced 504 / Tagora stuff on the site for weeks. Then all of a sudden plenty cheap bits appeared. Now all gone again. Make sure to only check "Amazon.co.uk" in the seller selection in the left side bar, it's only what they sell directly thats cheap.

Theres a PT starter for £7.14:

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Japanparts-MT130056-Starter/dp/B00DZMJ178/

buy starter on amazona, sell on ebay for £107.14, buy alternator on ebay for £99.99 http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/371694771401 you win a penny 8)

Cheers, nothing much out there for my motor... That starter is for a petrol version. It's ultra cheap though!
