We had the Polo when I was a lad. Always coveted the Rancho (and had the same Matchbox model as everyone else in this thread). 

Good question about the rear quarter vents — I’m guessing they’re different but I don’t know. I shall make it a mission to find out.

The Rancho and I are lowering the tone of Hall 5 at the NEC Resto Show all weekend — do drop by the Matra stand and say hello if you’re there.

Should a visitor follow the trail of rust flakes to the Matra stand, or the trail of PAS fluid to the Saab stand?  What a quandary.

I know, it’s the lovely warm dry shed of my dreams… but we’ve got no electric on our stand and also welding on carpet is frowned on. Pah. I did ask.

My personal NEC show highlights are here.  Hopefully people will forgive the self-promotion just this once as the video isn't actually about me.

Great to meet @sutty2006 and experience the Manta in its full glory, one of my absolute favourite cars at the show (1:30 onwards in the video, followed by @ianbmw's Monza).  Also lovely to meet @chodweaver in person, and a whole load of other people who may also be on here but I haven't joined the dots.

@Saabnut - really sorry we never did manage to connect!  It didn't help that our stands were at completely opposite ends of the show.  Hopefully next time.

Oh no!! Next time do just interrupt please, I spent most of Friday being told more than I could possibly ever remember about Matras and it would have been fantastic to meet you.
