Sixcylinder had an estate for sale didn't he?

Posted

It was a dark blue saloon. Was just on the khazi there when I remembered it was Taxi Paul.

Ou est vous Monsieur Paul?

Posted

There was also a dark green 1.8 turbo for sale too, but I can't remember who was selling that either

The dark blue one? fatharris? Could be wrong...

Nah not me, with any luck, I'll never see that bloody thing again.

Rover 75 2.0 v6 manual. 133,00 miles. Bad bits. Electric seats need wiring in , I run a wire to battery to fit them. Drivers door doesn't unlock on fob you need to use key. Back doors a little stiff on handles , don't think they ever got used. Bodywork has a lot of little scratches but polishes up nice. Wheels are a bit flakey. Good stuff . No warning lights or water leaks . Has had by last owner new inlet manifolds vis motors and thermostat. New radiator. New clutch and slave cylinder. Plenums all clean and dry . New breather pipes and pollen filter. Four good budget tyres, I also have four spare alloys with good tyres on I would throw in so you can refurb the ones on it. It runs well but has been sat for a couple of months now has it is sorned. Cambelts where changed around 60,000 miles eight years ago , so cambelt roulette.reg no x383 hav

Cheers Mr Paul, I appreciate you (and everyone else) getting back to me.

Currently weighing up what to do here.

Cars on Gumtree at my £300 budget are plentiful but it seems really difficult to a) get anyone to respond to me B) when they do respond, the car needs too much work or c) are eleventy million miles away in an industrial estate in the middle of nowhere.

I don't expect much for £300 but I was hoping for something that is fundamentally working so I have several options:

1) Ex FOAD now John K 309, just needs a driveshaft and it is close by

2) £200 Kia Magentis in Ayr with an unknown suspension rattle but MOT until April

3) The R75 however I would feel guilty as playing cambelt roulette with such a grand car.

4) Ideally, I would really like an old KA or Fiesta with an Endura E, ideal for my short trip to Croy station and back but only examples which are almost completely fucked are within my budget.

Anything needing work to make it driveable would need to be done by my local garage as I don't have much spare time and even less mechanical skills.

Gumtree and EBay seem to contain A lot of non MOT'd stuff for £200 which is too expensive IMO.

Stumped.

The belts will be fine, every 90,000 miles so still 17k to go  :-D

My 2000 V6 had its first belt change after 16 years last year, according to Rover they should of been replaced 10 years ago!

Enjoy the Rover.

I would go with the 309. To be honest I am only selling because i can't afford to insure it or tax it. I have two other cars that I use and I am looking to get rid of one of them has soon has the finance matches up. I put it on here to see if there was any interest. I think I will have a better chance when I mot it and then chuck it on gumtree and stand well back. Good luck with your search.

What about the ex-Bub, FOAD 440? Is that still around?

(edit: sorry, Bub wasn't trying to do you out of a sale there!)

(edit 2: Loserone's Kia Pride?)

(edit 3: Moog's Civic before he weighs it in?)

I think the 440 was a non runner when FOAD swapped it.

Can't find the Pride on EBay?

The Civic is grand but I'd rather splash* out on something needing a bit less work.

The R 75 is really tempting especially with the assurance of the belts but the old tax and insurance thing concerns me- I think it might be a bit dear for me. What does it cost for others to insure their R75? It would be kept on the drive.

It would be too difficult to give you an accurate prediction of when the short window in time would occur when there is actually £300 in my Bank account!

Seeing as the V5 for this has already arrived, I'll lob it into the mix.

Mostly because I have no idea what to do with it now I've got it home!

Seeing that small silver car in the background reminds me of something similar being sold by someone on here, dark coloured with coilovers fitted or something?

Aye, that was Station. Our Nippa is likely to be for sale when the 2CV returns. No idea when that'll be at the moment.

My 75 is fairly reasonable to insure for what it is, and was coming in with quotes that were cheaper than the typical run of the mill 1.6 Focuses or Astras. However, it is a 1.8, which may be cheaper to insure than a V6 version.

Do you want my green 214SEi for 300, its got a years test, new front tyres and a new cambelt but needs a small welded repair that i did on the back of the sill, painted (can of paint supplied). Have a look at my K Series Kapers thread for lots of pics & info. Its a nice car with only 55k on but I need rid of some ballast. Pm me if interested.

Link, as posted on this very forum at least twice  :-D

I'm sure some kind of partial delivery service might be arranged too, we go north of the wall an awful lot.
