Matt Posted May 23, 2016 Posted May 23, 2016 Surely any police officer that catches someone breaking existing laws that already cover this nonsense at such an event would deal with them using said existing laws? I can't help but feel that if this injunction was actually applied to and caused someone (especially an otherwise law abiding person in the wrong place at the wrong time) to be jailed would be a FUCKING MASSIVE PR disaster for the local police and court. strangeangel 1
Ghosty Posted May 24, 2016 Posted May 24, 2016 They should all gather in groups of 2-3 at each road on the border of the town. Nope, can't do anything, not in Harlow sir.
billyboy406v6 Posted May 24, 2016 Posted May 24, 2016 I suppose the permanent traffic jam/rideout that is the M25 will soon be banned as well ? Dave_Q 1
purplebargeken Posted May 24, 2016 Posted May 24, 2016 What a load of arse about nothing, Harlow is crap anyhow (just speculating based on what the internet says).
BavarianRetro Posted May 24, 2016 Posted May 24, 2016 What a waste of Harlow ratepayers' money. Leaving aside the fact that there are surely existing laws covering the possible meeting, as I understand it (any knowledge I may have is old and based on Scots law), an injunction is a civil matter, not a criminal one and the Police have no locus in ensuring that an injunction is not breached. Only the party benefitting from the injunction can ask the court to summon the person alleged to have breached the injunction to court to explain their actions or to find them in contempt of court. So nothing can be done about any breach of the injunction at the time, rendering the injunction absolutely pointless.

fordperv Posted May 24, 2016 Posted May 24, 2016 What a piss take, what harm are they actually doing?
johngarty Posted May 24, 2016 Posted May 24, 2016 Someone should organise 10.000 bikers to visit the gaff. See how many arrests are made. Junkman 1
panhard65 Posted May 24, 2016 Posted May 24, 2016 It's Harlow which says it all. I went to college there back in the 80's. It used to make me laugh as upon entering Harlow they had a big sign saying "Welcome to Harlow a nuclear free zone" So it seems that the local council have had many years of practice wasting taxpayers money. From my experience of the place it would of turned out far better if someone had dropped a bomb on it. fred, Vince70, strangeangel and 1 other 4
strangeangel Posted May 24, 2016 Posted May 24, 2016 listening to their super loud exhausts on a daily basis. Even artics seem to make less sound than some of those bikes. There's nothing I hate more than the sound of an unsilenced vee-twin Massey Ferguson either, but there are already laws for dealing with that sort of thing. This injunction malarkey is yet more Big Brother nonsense. They should crack on and have the ride anyway, I'd like to see the cops try and arrest all of them. UltraWomble 1
alf892 Posted May 24, 2016 Posted May 24, 2016 Did you miss the part about complaints from residents? Its a council.......of course they wouldn't invent any complaints would they? Our local band of worthies did this recently when there were suddenly reports of 'dog incidents' in the local park. End result is a fenced off bit where you can let your dog off. Fucking madness.......so you have the same amounts of dogs in a smaller space. Anyway.....rant over. Councils are full or worthies and daily mail readers who like to control........for no 0ther reason then they like to control. Actually quite scary that there are currently plans to give them increased powers...........
fordperv Posted May 24, 2016 Posted May 24, 2016 Did you miss the part about complaints from residents? It's easy to say a ton of bikers don't cause any problems so long as you're not the one suffering but when you have dozens of dimwits with custom bikes and non-existant silencers gathering in one place... it's nothing but nuisance and borders on disturbing the peace. People need to sleep and wake up early the next morning to go to work. So in that case I'll complain to the council about noisy people driving along the main road where I live, you choose where you live you make the choice no point marding about it after, people need to get a grip, the time you will mostly find bikers having a ride out is in the middle of the day, I'm sorry but is it fair or apt you brand bikers as dimwits? there are a few bikers on here, to be fair bikers are some of the best people you will meet in life, they are on the same level as the kind folk on here purplebargeken, DSdriver and strangeangel 3
DSdriver Posted May 24, 2016 Posted May 24, 2016 Complaining to the council does work, I had a rant at our "too much noise bloke" about the noise of the road sweeper vacuum thingy. I pointed out that there was a decibel limit for vehicles. He tried to wiggle out by saying that was just exhausts but did say that he would pass the complaint on. Low and behold we now have road sweepers that are so quiet you have no idea they are coming until you get sucked up inside.

Some occasional run-of-the-mill touring motorcycle with a normal exhaust shouldn't be an issue to anyone, but when you have dozens of dimwits with custom bikes and non-existant silencers gathering in one place... it's nothing but nuisance and borders on disturbing the peace. It's about motor vehicles and lists such (antisocial activities) as two motor vehicles driving in convoy - so making two wedding cars driving to a wedding in Harlow a "Contempt of Court" and the drivers AND passengers may get a prison sentence. Relax and have a read before ranting. http://www.harlow.gov.uk/sites/harlow/files/documents/files/Injunction%20-%20Persons%20entering%20land%20without%20the%20consent%20of%20Harlow%20Council%20in%20connection%20with%20an%20unauthorised%20ride.pdf However here's my credentials: MOT history of this vehicleTest date: 13 May 2016Expiry date: 12 May 2017Test Result: PassOdometer reading: 40,537 milesMOT test number: 1788 4861 2223Advisory notice item(s):Exhaust noisy (7.1.2) fordperv and Junkman 2
