Didn't it sell on eBay then? I thought it had gone as had it on watching.

Not surprised sadly, I hate selling cars on eBay, so many time wasters.

Fuck it, anyone got £650 before the clownshoe from next door drives into it with his Zafira?

Posted

This is tucked up safe at my father in law's whilst he is on holiday, I've stripped the front arms off ready to replace the bushes.

Further than that I really don't know what to do with the thing.

Sure you don't fancy an A4 veg slurper?

Posted

Ah I see. You have perhaps the details, herr Ken?

I do but it looks like Mr Lacquer Peel may have much interest. It that changes..........

I've just sold a really nice 1999 T plate 318i Convertible. Orient blue, black leather, new rear screen, working air con, high miles but every stamp in the book. No dents, rust, drove like a 30'000 mile car.

£500.

It's all it was worth.

Let that be a guide to the value of a 1998 306 Convertible irrespective of mileage.

You may be right, but I have seen them sell for over a grand recently, however the trend is nearer the monkey region.

Thing is I really don't see the merit of giving away a well sorted motor just because there are shite ones available for less. Perhaps I will find somewhere to store it instead.

Like, seriously, that went for £500?!

FFS. I thought it was long gone and £800. Gutted.

Sadly I think this tells you everything you need to know. Bit newer...lovely contrasting leather...

Look at this on eBay http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/262559869493

I wouldn't want to offend you or pull your pants down. But it's mid august so it's probably now or never for you.

We ought to just rent a massive AS barn somewhere for this stuff and call it an investment.

True, but it's done nearly 30k more than mine and has a burst seat.

I honestly thought that with the common issues sorted and the belt done I'd not have it round long at £700. Perhaps a deep lean and polish and a white sheet are in order.

I share your pain with this, I can't understand why these are currently so cheap for a well sorted example. They look great with their Pininfarina lines, drive very nicely, their easy to look after if you know what your doing, rare enough to be just that little different, can seat 4 and their luggage in comfort, and in common with all Psa stuff from that era don't suffer from any serious rot issues...and yet..currently prices have totally flatlined. I've got 2 myself, a phase 1 and a 3 and although I don't currently want to sell them, the prices that their currently selling for it most probably never be worth any point in doing so. I'd be inclined to stick it away rather than give it away...or polish it up to the nines take it out on a beautiful day with the hood down and slap a for sale sign up on it. I always get people coming up to me saying what a lovely car mine is, so I'd be inclined to hold out for the price you really want for it, I think it might be the case of "to see it, is to love it,is to buy it. Continued good luck with the sale.

Must say I have got something of a wide-on for one of these ATM

I've always thought these to be a decent looking thing, and 306's drove really nicely compared to the stodgy golfs, ashtrays and other bilge of that era.

Get it added to the fleet.

Yup. You know that feeling when you just need stuff out of your life and gone? Well.........

It was a 211'000 miler and no matter how good it was, it's still done 211'000 mile = worthless. My own fault for putting time and money into something that wasn't worth a cup of cold piss. (like most old cars).
