Dave_Q Posted November 26, 2016 Posted November 26, 2016 Further money saving tip: Luton to Reading is approx 1 hour by car, see if a friendly shiter will ferry you over maybe. You can get a bus of some sort but it only saves about £8 and takes an extra hour or so.
Lacquer Peel Posted November 26, 2016 Posted November 26, 2016 My friend with the 406 V6 might be able to help but that'll probably be more expensive than the train.
dollywobbler Posted November 27, 2016 Posted November 27, 2016 Or try and cheapen the train? http://splitticketing.co.uk/
Lacquer Peel Posted November 27, 2016 Posted November 27, 2016 That website doesn't like my long and complicated journey.
The Moog Posted November 27, 2016 Posted November 27, 2016 Shame it needs to go so quickly. I am down south in two weeks and could get the car to at least Preston, if not north of border(missus Moog permitting) Saying that, I don't think it would work out cheaper than flying bus stated above
Dave_Q Posted November 27, 2016 Posted November 27, 2016 That website doesn't like my long and complicated journey. If you put Inverness to London it comes back with 80quid which is a saving, but by the time you've added a tenner to Inverness and another 20 London to Reading you're definitely winning on the plane.
beko1987 Posted November 27, 2016 Posted November 27, 2016 If high wycombe or oxford is cheaper by train, I could assist in moving you about! Could do wycombe to reading lunchtime in the week, but if it's oxford to reading that'll have to be a weekend job. Although if it's only for a few days theres a chance it could be stashed by my house in thame, but that's quite far from reading really Lacquer Peel 1
Lacquer Peel Posted November 27, 2016 Posted November 27, 2016 Fail. I can't do this any more, I just got caught speeding and need to pay the fine within a month, which leaves me short of disposable income for collecting/buying the ZX.Someone take the ZX off Brammy's hands, it's a barg!BUMP.
bramz7 Posted November 27, 2016 Author Posted November 27, 2016 First £100 takes it. We have now established it's a Lucas pump though. Any takers?
barrett Posted November 28, 2016 Posted November 28, 2016 Somebody buy it so I don't have to Lacquer Peel 1
Lacquer Peel Posted November 28, 2016 Posted November 28, 2016 Every contemporary road test I've read waxes lyrical about the ride and handling of these things. Even a pre-third rate sitcom bigot Clarkson is impressed. Dave_Q 1
Coprolalia Posted November 28, 2016 Posted November 28, 2016 So it's the green one? What's the deal with the rust and how fast does it need moving? I do reckon a raffle is the way to go...
bramz7 Posted November 28, 2016 Author Posted November 28, 2016 Oddly it seems more chuckable than the BX, although the tyres are newer. The rust isn't that bad to be honest, it was an advisory on the last MOT but it did have some tidy enough patchwork put in round the NS front suspension. However, I can't safely say it'll pass the next test. I can probably hold onto it for a fortnight tops at the moment, although I'll probably drive it a bit this week just to keep it happy, and to save money on fuel as the BX is definitely not as frugal.
bramz7 Posted November 28, 2016 Author Posted November 28, 2016 Okay raffle it is then! So 60 tickets, £2 each. Cheap because cheap car. Located in Reading. I can possibly do lifts from nearby stations but arrange with me first if you are the winner. If I do give you a lift you get to experience the BX. 123456789101112131415161718192021222324252627282930313233343536373839404142434445464748495051525354555657585960

Passive 4 wheel steering IIRC. They didn't mention it in marketing tho cos didn't want it comparing to the Prelude. Or something. Fuggin ace car. I've had 4, all have been triffic.
bramz7 Posted November 29, 2016 Author Posted November 29, 2016 I'll update the numbers when I'm home later. I've driven it to work this morning and it was spot on. Also I haven't put diesel in it since Carlisle. So about 500 miles ago now.... M'coli 1

Some friendly woman helped me de-ice it yesterday and said how she had her 'old' car freeze up inside. I then saw her 'old' 03 Fabia and I think she thought the ZX was a 61 plate.
RobT Posted November 30, 2016 Posted November 30, 2016 It might be worth adding the raffle tag to lure more people in! adw1977 1
