Timing belts on a Ferrari 348 (mk2). Half the arse has to come off the car. The owner's not short of money, but the only Ferrari dealer in Northern Ireland fucked up his Testarossa a while ago so he won't go near them.348 was bought with 32,800 miles, TBs to be done at 33k...

well a 575M went past me yesterday and it had major transmission whine and a slight misfire.Well our college project needs the following work:-Rear Subframe needs to be fully mounted-Rear suspension turrets modifying-Wiring loom extended in places to cope with engine layout change-Replacement Seat mounted-Fuel tank welded completely in place where the engine was-Engine put in place-Needs a new battery-Fuel filler to be cut into bonnet/wing-New front lights-massive dent on side (done by idiots in another class moving it) has to be pulled out and repainted-Gearbox linkage needs to be sorted to cope with engine layout reversal.and theres probably more10 months remaining.

BX:Wheel bearing; replace leaking rear height corrector (been like that for ages); buy carb service kit, renovate & set up spare carby and fit. Find out what clonk is in front axle, even after droplinks and lower arm bushes have been done; oil & filters; investigate where downpipe is touching against heat shield under load; stop snipped brake pad warning wires rubbing against inside of NSF wheel; give roof, bonnet and rear spoiler a blowover with paint & lacquer to restore sun-damaged bits; waxoyl car (far-fetched); fix intermittent blower motor; replace blower motor vent-to-bulkhead gasket; polish weld spatter out of windscreen... GSA:Get spare wheel's unbonded valve replaced; find out what whirring noise is (like muffled sound of a golfball in a tin can) from the OSF when cornering left; find out what's clonking over bumps at the front (suspect anti-roll bar bearing), find out why the front brake pads rattle even though the anti-rattle springs are in place (been putting off a long time although it's steadily driving me nuts); drain hydraulic flushing fluid, clean reservoir and filters, refill with new LHM, bleed brakes; oil and filters; sort out minor oil leak/consumption; fix any damaged areas of paint (scrapes and vandalism damage to driver's mirror mounting); repair rusting tailgate lip; clean and refit front carpets (put off a long time) and refit carpet retaining trim; fix dropped passenger window; fix oil breather sump return tube; replace oil breather filter gauze; touch up restored wheels that are already starting to rust after 3-4 years; replace any loose underseal; polish out tiny pits and scratches from windscreen; fix rear demist element; fix/replace rear washer pump that operates but doesn't squirt; fix heater/blower so it actually blows cold air on the cold setting when the engine's hot; clean out oil-caked heat exchangers on exhaust; stop exhaust blowing in extreme wet conditions; fix defective door check strap; fix up rusty battery tray; replace perished fresh air vent flap gaskets (needed doing like 6 years ago); shampoo/steam clean seats. Think that's about it. EDIT: I forgot the clutch needs adjusting tooWin the lottery, buy a house with a heated workshop garage...Mark.

Unbelievably, topping up the gearbox oil on the Spit. The filler hole is outrageously inaccessible from underneath the car, so I'm going in from the passenger footwell! Needs doing every 6000 miles, so I'm going to bodge some sort of service hatch... when I can be arsed.

R4 - Virtually nothing, need to carry on finding parts for future use - rear door etc but other than that it's all good :D R11 - Same as last time, loads of small jobs. On the plus side, the radio now works and the voice computer is working now. This does however mean you get an endless stream of warning whenever you get in  Not sure i'll ever get it done and I'm very tempted to sell it...

This week, I'm mainly putting off:Bedford - get MoTd (needs exhaust manifold sorting)Bond - make less broken. Well, it runs and drives now, but still needs a fair bit of fettling.2CV - make less rotten. Almost booked in for work, just can't get hold of the bloke now...Mini - make less whiney in the gears, replace rear subframe. Nope. Don't think I'll be doing either of those. Another farm out job!BX - Adjust clutch, service. Maybe.

Oil change, lol. Currently at almost 10,000 miles on this batch of the stuff...

I need to fix the driver's window on the Mini, it's fallen out of its runner. I'm sick of forgetting about it, because I keep reaching for the winder, cursing as the glass plummets, and spending five minutes at the side of the road retrieving it. The car is also filling with water through the floor.

I need to set the tappets, investigate the oil leak/replace the oil seal on the distributor shaft, re-rehang the exhaust, have the couple of holes in the boot floor welded up, and to change those pesky noisy front wheel bearings. And the big jobs that are upcoming: New sills, new strut tops, try and find a decent pair of doors for the n/s and probably a prep-up and blow-over. Then it'll be time to think about some moAr powAh 8)

I need to get that rocker cover gasket sorted on the Galant really, it's becoming a bit of a joke how much oil gets launched out of the engine now. I've got a new gasket and everything, but I've never done one before and suspect I'd mess it up, so I just keep putting oil in the engine instead.

Valve/rocker cover gasket is dead easy.I'm putting off...Oil changeNew injectorNew leak-off pipesDriveshaft oil sealsAnti-roll bar bushes.

Did the one on the Bond at the weekend. Very, very simple, but I guess OHV is always going to be easy! Hardest job was having to scrape some of the old gasket away - merely a bit of a chore rather than tricky.

Put it this way: you can say "well, it's had regular oil changes, like clockwork. The oil's always fresh...." Back when my GSA was doing what all G's do best - leak oil - it was getting an oil change well under the recommended 3000 mile interval, and the front subframe is thus nicely preserved... Not GR8 for the environment, or my wallet for that matter... but it was one of those things I kept putting off. Same with hydraulic fluid leaks, until one of the rear suspension cylinders failed that is. One of the blessings with that car at the moment is that - touch wood - it has no LHM leaks. Unlike the BX that receives 500cc of fresh LHM every month or so... Mark.

Actually, I missed out the fact that I need to do the rocker cover gasket on mine too. If you want some moral support just let me know, I work tomorrow then Im off for 9days 8)

CX - investigate what's 'chirping' at the top end of the engine using a 'hands off' approach. I think it's the camshaft end bearing (I hope cos it's rel easy to do)After a long, fast hot run such as Glasgow to Staines I find the engine is making this squeaky-rattly sound from top end that is worst at idle (actually goes away above 1.2K)

Adjust idle to 1.2k - problem solved :)

I need to; Rebuild the carb on the P5. I've had the full overhaul kit sitting in the garage for a week - next to the carb..Have a go at starting the P4.Sell the P6MOT the Audi next week.

I've decided to buy a professionally rebuilt short engine for my Triumph, I figure it'll be nicer starting with a clean slate rather than rebuilding my old engine, but I can't bring myself to pull the trigger on such an expensive part yet :? Have to do it sometime.

Our Marea needs a sump, ripped the old one to bits the other day trying to get the bodged sump plug out.. new sump is 80 quid, but smaller than our old Punto sump which was 25 quid...My 190D needs a new stop solenoid, at the moment I have to stall it to cut the engine, usually I forget and get out with the engine still running. Also needs all the scabby bits touched up/resprayed.And a new star,as its gone.My 850 needs back discs. Horrible vibration when braking, fitted new rear calipers to make the back brakes work, but now its worse.... Also needs a new cat as the present one rattles.. oh, and I also need a hi level brake light cover. The whole car lights up red when you brake at night.

Bit of trim come off the front pass seat needs to be fitted properly.Rear ABS sensor on Audi, wife keeps nagging about the bright red light on the dash all the time so I stuck some insulating tape over for the time being, again 6 months ago!
