I admire Mercedes for even thinking that chucking in a load of big engines and lots of bling into a 70s military vehicle, then selling it to urban yuppies for £lots, was a good idea. Let alone actually making a success of it.

 

Land Rover should definitely have chucked an AJ-V8 in the Defender. And perhaps could have subjected it to some of the constant development MB has put into the old Wagen.

I picked up the current issue of Car & Driver when I was in the US last month, and they had a mini road test of the G65 AMG.  The conclusion was basically that it was utterly shit from any objective point of view, comically overpriced and completely ridiculous, but they were still glad it existed.

Look now.  the Pubs within walking distance are pretentious over priced gastro restaurants, which compete with the pretentious over priced restaurants.

 

There is one pub that isn't, and it isn't the sort of place you'd like to take a lady.

 

So I have a favourite wine bar. Because they have a full selection of newspapers, make a good coffee, and in the evening have live music at the weekend. Plus it makes my wife happy to go there. When she is happy I'm happy.

To be fair, I googled the place, and it's not half as pretentious as the title "wine bar" would have it seem. And anywhere that does good coffee and live music gets a thumbs up from me. As do happy wives!
